During an interview with XXL magazine, Kendrick Lamar shared his thoughts on Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) recently inking a deal with Interscope Records. Since Kendrick is signed to TDE the deal directly affects the rapper and will also mean that his debut album will be released through both TDE and Interscope as well as Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Records.
While speaking on the deal Kendrick explained that he remains confident in where Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith and TDE will take his career.

“[It was] a situation where my big homey Top Dawg felt like it was time to take it to the next level. That’s somebody I’ve been dealing with for years,” Kendrick explained to XXL. “Somebody that can just let me be creative as I want to be and not get caught up in the business politics of the industry that’ll fuck an artist up creatively. I know he has my best interest, Top Dawg, so whatever move we decide to make in the game I know it’s in our favor. That’s why we decided to do it from the ground up and not go out there and chase and knock on labels’ doors because once you do that, they really own you as an entity as far as you being an artist.”
Although we now know that Kendrick’s debut album will be released through Interscope, the rapper revealed that he’s yet to choose a title for his debut.
“It’s still [up] in the air, just not confirmed yet. Once I throw it out there, people gonna understand,” said Kendrick in regards to his album title.
