Necro Reacts To Alleged Musical Link In 2009 Child Murder
After a defense team reportedly linked Necro's music as an influence in a 2009 murder, the rapper/producer speaks out, refuting any connection.
A MSN Canada article published yesterday (March 23) connected the music of Brooklyn, New York emcee/producer Necro with the 2009 London, Ontario murder of eight-year-old Victoria "Tori" Stafford. Investigators discovered guilty-pleading killer Terri-Lynne McClintic, girlfriend alleged accomplice of co-defendant Michael Thomas Rafferty, was a fan of Necro. McClintic had songs from the rapper on her iPod and had previously written letters, some mimicking "Garbage Bag," a 1994 recording found on Necro's Rare Demos & Freestyles, Volume 1 compilation.
According to the article, McClintic denied listening to the rapper in the hours leading up to the murder, however the defense council drove the issue of the possible influence of Necro's lyrics.
Yesterday, Necro released the following statement via email, disassociating with the violence, and refuting the defense's argument.
Writer's Note: The statement has been edited for spelling and format.
"I DO NOT SUPPORT THE KILLING OF KIDS. I LOVE CHILDREN AND FEEL THEY SHOULD BE PROTECTED AND LOVED AND CARED FOR, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE YOUR FAMILY. I'M AGAINST ANYTHING THAT BRINGS HARM TO CHILDREN. A LOT OF US GREW UP MESSED UP BECAUSE WE WERENT LOVED AS KIDS OR GOT SCREWED OVER.
AS FOR THIS CASE - EVERY FEW YEARS SOME LAYWER OR COURT OR NEWSPAPER TRIES TO BLAME SOME RAPPER OR METAL GROUP, BUT THATS CRAP, WHETHER OZZY [OSBOURNE], OR JUDAS PRIEST, OR [INSANE CLOWN POSSE], OR NOW NECRO. WE ALL HAVE 100,000 TO A MILLION FANS [OR MORE], AND NONE OF THEM DO THESE TYPES OF THINGS, SO YOU CANT BLAME THE ACTIONS OF ONE OR A FEW KIDS ON AN ARTIST.
AND IF YOU ARE GONNA ATTACK MUSICIANS THEN YOU GOTTA ATTACK MOVIES WHICH ARE MORE VISUAL
BUT YOU KNOW WHY NOONE ATTACKS MOVIES? BECAUSE ITS EASY TO ATTACK AN INDIE ARTIST OR STRUGGLING BAND, BUT ITS MUCH HARDER TO ATTACK ONE OF THE MAJOR MOVIE COMPANIES MAJOR RECORD LABELS WILL THROW THEIR ARTIST UNDER THE BUS AND DROP THEM IN A SECOND, BUT YOU CANT DROP A BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE AND MOVIES ARE USUALLY 5 TO 50 MILLION IN COST, BUT MUSICIANS USUALLY HAVE NO MORE THAN 100K TO A MILLION INVESTED SO WE GET ATTACKED FIRST ALWAYS AND MOVIES AND EVERYTHING ELSE IS LEFT ALONE NONSENSE.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BAD PARENTS AND HORRIBLE SCHOOL SYSTEMS AND GOVERNMENTS OF THE WORLD TEACH YOUR KIDS AND SHOW THEM LOVE IF ANYTHING IM MORE IN TOUCH WITH YOUR KIDS THAN THE PARENTS OR SCHOOLS ARE IN A POSITIVE WAY BECAUSE I TALK TO THE KIDS DAILY ONLINE, I RESPOND, AND YOU SEE ME MAKING POSITIVE MOVES IN LIFE REVOLVING AROUND ART, WETHER OR NOT THE ART IS VIOLENT OR NOT IS NOT THE POINT, ITS ART!
YOU CANT BLAME SOMEONE THAT CREATES VIOLENT MUSIC WHEN THE WORLD HAS BEEN VIOLENT SINCE IT STARTED, WAR AFTER WAR I JUST REFLECT THE REALITY IN MY MUSIC.
MY CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY FOR THEIR LOSS I DO NOT SUPPORT THAT ACT AND NEVER PROMOTE MY FANS TO DO THAT."
