Heavy D Owed Nearly $44,000 In Taxes

Documents filed in California show that Heavy D has a sizable tax lien against him.

Though Heavy D passed away last year, his troubles are not entirely behind him.

TMZ.com reports that the Franchise Tax Board in California filed documents that reveal Heavy D has a tax lien against him in the amount of $43,967.87 from the years 2008 and 2009.

Other artists such as Nas, Lil Wayne, and Bow Wow have encountered tax troubles in recent years.

Heavy D passed away on November 8, 2011 from a pulmonary embolism.
