Last week, Ja Rule used a birthday call for an interview with Sirius XM – a no-no for the incarcerated rapper.

According to MTV News, the emcee, who recently released his new album Pain is Love 2, faced a disciplinary hearing over the interview with Sirius XM’s Ear Candy Mornings show on Hip Hop Nation.

The court determined that he must complete a seven-day work detail as punishment for the unauthorized phone call.

His publicist Melanie Bonvicino says that prison officials were angered by a recent interview he gave to the New York Daily News, where he spoke on his relationships with fellow inmates. “That sort of created this issue with the powers that be at the facility because after that, they refused all interviews for him,” she said.
