Mac Miller and Machine Gun Kelly undoubtedly find much of their popularity in the college crowd, so it’s no surprise that the awards show geared towards college students has nominated them in numerous categories.

Machine Gun Kelly, who is nominated for “Breaking Woodie,” discussed what the nomination means to him with MTV News.

“It was the same thing with the Breakthrough award,” explained the Bad Boy signee. “No one expected us to win, we were the super-underdogs, so I’m just trying to speak [this award] into existence. And if I win it, my speech is going to be hilarious.”

Mac Miller is up for “Woodie of the Year” and “Performing Woodie,” and appears to be very confident. “It’s crazy, it makes me feel like there’s no way I’m going to win,” sadi the Pittsburgh native. “But it’s just great to be nominated with people that I grew up being some of my favorite artists. It makes me feel like I’m in the big leagues.”

mtvU’s Woodie Awards recognize the music voted best by college students. Past winners have included Gnarls Barkley, Tech N9ne, Green Day, and Kings of Leon.
