Freddie Gibbs has signed fellow Gary, Indiana native G-Scott to his Str8 Slammin’ label, also owned by rapper/engineer D-Edge and DJ Roc.

According to a press release, Scott will release his Str8 Slammin’ debut Weekend in Las Vegas this spring, and has already dropped its first single “HA$H.” Scott is currently a student at Indiana University Northwest, and has previously released the projects Scott Bailey vs. The World and The Michael G. Scott EP.

“G-Scott’s word play is what caught my attention. He’s very articulate and has very good content. I think he’s definitely somebody to look out for in 2012,” said Gibbs of the signing.

“He’s from the same area we’re from,” adds D-Edge. “We heard some songs from him one day and have been fans since. He’s the best of the new artists coming from the 219. No one will be disappointed and we expect a lot from him.”
