Ali Shaheed Muhammad And Maseo To Lecture At Red Bull Music Academy
Mixmaster-producers from A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul will be at Los Angeles' Ultra Lounge today, speaking about the impact of the Native Tongues and the "golden-era" sound of Hip Hop.
Tonight (February 4), Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest and Maseo of De La Soul will lecture at Los Angeles, California's Red Bull Music Academy. Collectively, the Native Tongues pair represents nearly 50 years of music-making, as both are also accomplished producers. The event takes place at the Ultra Lounge and will run from 4-7pm PST.
In addition to work with ATCQ, Shaheed was a founding member of Lucy Pearl as well as a founding member of production group The Ummah, alongside J Dilla (a/k/a Jay Dee) and Q-Tip. In 2004, he released his solo debut, Shaheedullah and Stereotypes.
In addition to De La Soul, Maseo ran Bear Mountain Entertainment and done outside production work.
