On January 31, 2012 Legacy Recordings will release Giant Single: Profile Records Rap Anthology, a 2CD set. The collection, which spans 1981 to 1996, features Profile catalog hits from ’80s hit-makers Run-DMC, Dana Dane and Rammelzee vs. K-Rob, as well as hardcore ’90s emcees like Smoothe Da Hustler, Nine and Onyx.
Profile birthed the careers of Hip Hop icons Run-DMC, along with stars such as DJ Quik, Rob Base & DJ E.Z. Rock and Special Ed. The label was founded by Cory Robbins and Steven Plotnicki, and expanded to include Dance and Dancehall genres of music.
In 1997, Profile merged with Arista Records. The label’s catalog today is managed by Legacy/Sony Records.
