Red Cafe Talks Single With Rick Ross, "Hell's Kitchen" Mixtape
Red Cafe talks about his latest single "Fly Together" featuring Rick Rozay and his upcoming mixtape.
It's been a long time coming for Brooklyn-raised rapper Red Cafe. Now, five years since he debuted on the scene with The Co-Op, Red is preparing to release his studio debut ShakeDown at the top of next year on Interscope/Bad Boy/Konvict.
The Boombox recently caught up with the Guayana-born emcee to talk about ShakeDown's lead single "Fly Together," featuring Rick Ross and Ryan Leslie. He explained that he wanted to make a record that put men and women on an equal playing field in Hip Hop. He also explained that he hopes the single will set the tone for the rest of ShakeDown.
"I made the record particularly for the women. I wanted to salute all the single parents and all the independent women that's working hard and acknowledge the fact that they can fly just as high as the homies fly," he explained. "The women have been appreciating the record and I feel good about that. Mission accomplished. And it's setting the tone for the album...hopefully that will set the tone for the people and make them feel like, 'Dude is going to come with some work.'"
Red Cafe also spoke on his next mixtape Hell's Kitchen, a follow-up to this past March's Above the Clouds. Cafe explained that the tape would drop before Christmas this year and added that he linked up with a host of hit makers for the project, including Fabolous, Meek Mill and 2 Chainz.
"We're going to hit the road and try to get this mixtape out as well, the Hell's Kitchen. Just prepare people for the album," he explained. "[It'll be out] before Christmas. That has about 14 original records on there. I'm really excited about that as well. It's going to be another preview for the actual album. We going to get out there and get to hustling...I got a couple of my comrades on there that's doing they thing. I got Fabolous of course, Meek Mill, I got 2 Chainz on there. I got this new kid out of D.C. named Fat Trell and he has great energy. The streets is fuckin' wit him, I'm fuckin' wit him, and I want to showcase his talent. He's on a joint."
