During this year’s Grammy Nominations Concert, Common, Lupe Fiasco, Rick Ross and LL Cool J will team up for a tribute to “The Message,” a classic 1982 track originally done by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. Furious Five members Melle Mel and Scorpio will also play a role in the performance. The concert will air live on CBS later this week.

Nominations will also be announced in preparation for the 54th annual Grammy Awards, to be held on February 12, 2012 in Los Angeles’ Staples Center. Rihanna, Ludacris, Lady Gaga, Usher and others will be performing at this event with acts like Nicki Minaj presenting.

Just a few days ago, it was reported that Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five’s 1982 hit “The Message” was selected by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2012.
