DMX has been on the road to recovery since kicking his substance abuse problem and cleaning up his act. During an interview with KPLR 11 in St. Louis, Missouri, Dark Man X spoke on turning his life around for the better and using his experiences to help others better themselves.

“There were times where it appeared I had nothing to hold onto. Nothing to help me get through that. I’m a man of faith, and it’s good to know there are others out there like me,” he said. “Be grateful for the fact that you can see clearly. I appreciate the continued support, and I’m sure you have noticed, but I will never let you down in terms of the message and the delivery of the message. It’ll always be honest, it’ll always be to the point and it’ll always be uncompromised.”

He also spoke on his appearance on Dr. Drew’s “Lifechangers,” where he spoke to a young man to get him on the right path. The Ruff Ryder explained that seeks opportunities like that to selflessly help others.

“I was on there because hopefully, I was able to change somebody’s life and be a positive influence. Because there are so many negative things said. People don’t know the real me. Those are types of things that I not only enjoy doing, but I do them on the regular. I don’t do it for the fame, I don’t do it for the publicity. I do it because it needs to be done. So it’s great to have that side of me shown.”
