This week, it was reported that Brother Ali would release his collaborative project with Freeway early next year. However, Ali contacted HipHopDX to inform us that this is not the case. The Rhymesayers emcee explained that his solo effort with Jake One would be dropping in early 2012 and that his initial statements were misunderstood. He also wanted to clarify that he felt it was “too early” to speak on the joint album with Freeway.

Ali supporters shouldn’t worry about not getting the collaborative project with Freeway. In fact, Ali confirmed that the two are working on it. However, as he said in his initial statement, he doesn’t want to “get people excited about stuff way early.” In a message to DX, he clarified.

“The album with [Freeway] is still way too early to talk about. We’re definitely going to keep making that one but it’s way too soon to start talking about.”

This echoes his initial statement to OnMilwaukee.com, where he explained his feelings on the matter.

“Honestly, I think Freeway kind of jumped the gun on talking about it…Like I said, I don’t like rushing things. I don’t like to start the excitement to try to get people excited about stuff way early because then it feels like, ‘Come on, you’re taking forever,’ and it’s like, ‘No, I’m just taking the time that I need to take.'”

Fans can expect his highly anticipated Rhymesayers solo project, entirely produced by Jake One, early next year. Currently, Brother Ali and fellow Rhymesayers are embarking on a European tour. The dates for the tour are below.
