Vh1 announced this morning that following their Ice-T executive produced Rock Doc on crack cocaine, Planet Rock, that they are producing another Rock Doc, this time on the 1992 Los Angeles Riots. Under the working title of Uprising: Hip-Hop & The L.A. Riots, the April, 2012 documentary will feature commentary from the likes of N.W.A.’s DJ Yella, Sir Jinx and Too $hort, all West Coast artists active at the time of the riots.

Additionally, Nas, Big Boi and KRS-One are confirmed participants in the film that will also feature Rodney King. Rodney King’s 1991 police-beating and resulting LAPD acquittal was instrumental in the Los Angeles Riots taking places.

Earlier this year, Inglewood, California emcee Thurz (a/k/a Thurzday) made an album, L.A. Riot, inspired by the events surrounding the events.
