97.9 FM The Box’s Devi Dev recently caught up with the legendary King of the Trill Bun B at the Hip Hop for HIV benefit concert in Houston, Texas. While speaking with Dev on the red carpet, Bun Beata revealed that students at Rice University better ready their drop-add forms, as the UGK alum will return as a lecturer.

Bun said he will definitely return this fall and spring semesters to teach his Religion and Hip Hop Culture in America course at Rice University. The H-Town legend, who co-teaches the course with Dr. Anthony Pinn, said that they’re putting the final touches on this year’s syllabus and that he is grateful to return to Rice University as a faculty member.

“We’re getting ready for the fall, we’re going to be teaching [it] ag

ain in the fall,” he said. “I’m actually going to be meeting with Dr. [Anthony] Pinn and the H.E.R.E. Project next week actually, and we’re going to be making sure that we have our t’s crossed and our i’s dotted and just getting the last points of the syllabus ready. We’re going to be teaching again in the fall and again in the spring. It’s an incredible opportunity afforded to me, and I just want to make sure I do right by it and hopefully, Rice University and the H.E.R.E. Project will allow me to be apart of this for many years to come.”

The H-Town emcee first began teaching the course last year as a part of the Houston Enriches Rice Education (b/k/a H.E.R.E.) Project. Earlier this year, the course culminated in a public forum featuring Talib Kweli, Lupe Fiasco, Trae the Truth, Malice of the Clipse and Tre9. Registration for the course is due this Friday August 5.
