While the jet ski accident that nearly left Sean Kingston dead is surely a painful memory, the singer hasn’t been shy about sharing the details of the incident, which left him in dire condition.

“I’m doing good. I’m feeling great. I’m excited. I’m happy,” he said in an interview during “MTV First: Sean Kingston.”

“A lot of people don’t know it was a deeper situation. I had open heart surgery and I had two other surgeries; it was a life-or-death situation.”

“They were gonna send me home, but then I had felt a pain in my left chest, and I told my mom,” he elaborated. “They rushed me and they did a lot of scans on me, [and] they said I couldn’t leave.”

The accident, which occurred on May 29, also left the singer left him with water in his lungs and a broken wrist and jaw.
