Kendrick Lamar, DJ Evil Dee, J-Live Added To 2011 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival
UPDATE #4: Compton-meets-Brooklyn as TDE's Kendrick Lamar returns to the east, joining Q-Tip, M.O.P., Torae, Homeboy Sandman, J-Live and many more.
With a history including iconic emcees such as De La Soul, Brand Nubian, KRS-One and Boot Camp Clik, this year's Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival will be headlined by Queens, New York emcee/producer Q-Tip.
Billed as "Q-Tip & Friends," the longtime front-man for seminal 1990s Hip Hop group A Tribe Called Quest will be joined by surprise guests for a performance on July 16th in Brooklyn, New York's Dumbo section. Stay tuned to HipHopDX to hear about the Brooklyn Bodega's additional events planned for their seventh annual Hip Hop festival.
UPDATE: The Brooklyn Bodega has announced that other performers at the seventh annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival will include Queens, New York emcee Homeboy Sandman, Toronto, Ontario emcee Eternia and London, Ontario emcee Shad.
UPDATE #2: The Brooklyn Bodega has announced that Brooklyn, New York duo M.O.P. (a/k/a Mash Out Posse) has been added to the lineup. Additionally, Coney Island, Brooklyn emcee Torae will be performing. Last year, Torae, who has released albums with Duck Down, Soulspazm and Fat Beats Records, was a master of ceremonies and host throughout much of the event. Also included will be pioneering veejay/video director Ralph McDaniels. "Uncle Ralph" has been deeply involved with Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival for several years.
UPDATE #3: It has been announced that J-Live, Ali Shaheed Muhammed, Da Beatminerz' DJ Evil Dee, the X-Ecutionerz' Mista Sinista and Diamond District have been added to this year's lineup. Diamond District and Evil Dee were both part of last year's Saturday performers. Ali, a member of a A Tribe Called Quest, will likely join the "Q-Tip and Friends..." headlining segment of the show.
