Chiddy Bang's Chiddy Sets Guinness Record For Freestyling Nine Hours
The DXnext emcee bumps a Wu-Tang Clan affiliate with taking on the new record.
Chiddy of the DXnext duo Chiddy Bang made history on Thursday when he set two Guinness World Records for rapping. The Drexel University alum emcee rapped for over nine hours, setting a new record in two different categories.
Clocking in at nine hours, 18 minutes and 22 seconds, Chiddy set the Guinness World Record for both Longest Marathon Rap and Longest Freestyle Rap. The previous record holder for the later category was Wu-Tang affiliate M-Eighty, who set the bar in 2009 with 9 hours, 15 minutes and 15 seconds.
“It's crazy - shouts to team swelly, shouts to MTV,” said Chiddy, who released The Preview on EMI Records last fall. “Thanks to all the people who showed support all day online. Without the fans I couldn't have done this. I used to read the Guinness book when I was a little kid in school. Now I'm in it. Chase dreams first.”
MTV documented the world record breaking rap for the O Music Awards. The video can be seen below.
