Obie Trice Meeting With Michigan State Senator
Obie and Senator Virgil Smith will meet today to discuss bringing new entertainment projects to Detroit.
Detroit native Obie Trice is working to help his home city get back on its feet. Today, April 22nd, the emcee is meeting with Virgil Smith, a Michigan State Senator, to discuss opportunities for entertainment ventures. Obie’s company, Black Market Entertainment, is looking for ways to develop the Motor City’s talented collection of local talent.
One topic on the agenda is tax incentives and breaks to production companies who are willing to work in Michigan. Obie would also like the city to receive government subsidize to fund a youth music program. The rapper also plans to create a community recording studio and soundstage to provide local talent with an outlet to develop their talents. He explained his interest in this project, stating, "Detroit has a solid history in the arts, rooted in excellence and trailblazing. With our youth the city has endless potential, it’s our responsibility to identify and cultivate it."
Obie continues to work on his own music. He is currently prepping his new LP, Bottom’s Up, for release. The video for single “Keep Me/Love Me” premiered last week.
