For the first time since signing to Eminem's Shady Records, Yelawolf took his energetic stage show to New York City where he performed to a sold out crowd at the Highline Ballroom. After the show, the Gadsden, Alabama native spoke to MTV about his high octane stage show.
"I train like a stallion. Every morning my trainer makes me flip tires, do push-ups with chains around my neck and rap at the same time," Yela joked. "Nah, it's just the constant intake of Jack Daniels and Budweiser. I don't know where it comes from, honestly. I just go out there and snap."
"I grew up watching Redman and Cypress Hill," he added. "You know, [I was] going out to Lollapalooza, where it was rock and hip-hop. That was the energy that I wanted to have as a performer to connect with the fans."
Raekwon has collaborated with Dame Dash/DD172 and MTV for "Road to Release." The show captures The Chef during the weeks leading up to the release of Shaolin vs. Wu Tang. According to the press release, "Cameras join Rae on the road, during his national promotional run, strategy meetings with his staff, interacting with fans and most intriguingly, will chronicle his personal reflections as he releases the album that defines the lines between Raekwon the solo artist and Raekwon, the member of the legendary Wu Tang Clan. Viewers will have a candid look at one of hip hop’s legendary artist, as he defies the odds and reignites his career."
The show will air in four segments on MTV2, Jamz and Sucker Free from March 8th - April 1st.
