After being released from prison last fall, Shyne accepted a temporary deportation by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The order sent Shyne back to his native Belize, where is father serves as the prime minister.
“We’re working on that right now,” Shyne told Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex. “We’re putting in the application, and we’ve just got to show the United States that we’re coming in to do our diplomatic thing.”
One issue that won’t be handled diplomatically upon Shyne’s return is his relationship with 50 Cent. The rappers have traded diss tracks since Shyne’s release, with 50 having some fun at Shyne’s expense by joining in on one of his conference calls. But Shyne has an interesting take on how he believes the beef started.

“When I was out, I was selling records and he wasn’t out yet,” Shyne explained. “When I went in the can—as far as I know—he was talking about, ‘I’ma shoot up the club like Shyne,’ and he was throwing it up. He knew what it was hitting for. I’m unquestionable in the streets. He was trying to get me to sign to G-Unit, and I wasn’t doing that. I wasn’t gonna sign to Murder Inc. or Death Row neither. I was on my Gang Land thing. He just took that the wrong way and started talking reckless.”
For his part, Shyne says he doesn’t consider it a beef, and called 50’s actions childish. Having released the video for his single “Roller Song,” this week, Shyne says he plans on dropping the single “King David” next week. With his deportation still unresolved, Shyne has left Belize for Israel to explore his roots in Judaism.
