Saigon Takes Blame For Failing To Land G-Unit Deal
Saigon reveals that he could've signed a deal with 50 Cent, but failed to seal the deal.
Though Saigon's subject matter brushes more with conscious content than 50 Cent and G-Unit's, it shouldn't be much of a surprise that Sai nearly landed a deal with 50 back in the early 2000s.
Being of a similar mixtape background to 50, Saigon recently revealed that he and the G-Unit general were in talks back in the day.
“I wanted to be the conscious arm of G-Unit,” revealed Saigon in an interview with XXLmag.com.
Unfortunately, a text message gone awry ruined the deal.“It was kind of my fault. I hit four times, and he ain’t text me. I then said something about him feeling himself. He was like, ‘Who the fuck you think you is, nigga?’ But it was all in fun to me. I was trying to see if he was ignoring me.”
Although the deal never materialized, Saigon did finally get a chance to release his long-delayed debut, the no-longer-appropriately-titled Greatest Story Never Told.
The album features guest spots by Q-Tip, Jay-Z, Devin the Dude, Bun B, Black Thought and others, while featuring production by Just Blaze, Kanye West, Buckwild and others.
