It’s fitting, and not coincidental, that Wiz Khalifa’s Steel City anthem “Black & Yellow” has reached its commercial apex in the week leading up to his hometown Steeler’s appearance in Super Bowl XLV. The Pittsburgh emcee’s track is currently sitting at number three and threatening to top the Billboard charts in the week following the big game. This would be quite a feat considering most rappers who have climbed to the top of the charts in the last few years have needed the help of a pop diva.

Even if the track fails to reach #1 Wiz can still take solace in the fact that his single has just been awarded Double Platinum certification for sales in excess of two million units. The Stargate produced track reached the milestone in just under five months. The song is the first single from Wiz’s upcoming album, Rolling Papers, due later this year.

Khalifa took to twitter recently to thank all his fans, known as the “Taylor Gang”, for going out and copping the track.
