Kanye West is already headlining the annual Coachella music festival in Indio, California. When the complete lineups were announced, the even sold out within hours. Now it has been announced West will headline the first South American edition of Lollapalooza, as the festival heads to Chile. The festival is the brainchild of Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell and is usually held at Grant Park in West’s native Chicago.

“We are confident a massive music audience is awaiting us in Santiago,” Farrell said, in a written statement. “What we are very interested to learn is how widely spread the demographic will be. In Chicago we have hipsters as well as young parents with children in attendance. It is one of the few places in the world where a generation gap doesn’t exist.”

Lollapalooza is going international 20 years after first making its domestic debut. West and Cypress Hill will be the most notable Hip Hop acts in the predominately Rock/Alt lineup. Lollapalooza Chile will take place April 2 – 3 in O’Higgins Park in Santiago. More information is available at the official Lollapalooza Chile website.
