Jay-Z Signs Sean Garrett To Roc Nation, Despite Young Money Reports

Two moneys ago, the ATL singer/songwriter was headed to Lil Wayne's empire, but he confirmed to Angela Yee that he's rockin' with Hov.

Since releasing his 2008 debut album, Turbo 919 through Interscope Records, Atlanta, Georgia's singer, songwriter and producer Sean Garrett has been said to have signed to a number of new homes. With work completed this year alongside the likes of Usher and Nicki Minaj, it was initially reported that Sean was joining his "Massive Attack" collaborator at Lil Wayne's Young Money Records.

It has now been reported that Garrett is instead joining J. Cole and Willow Smith at Jay-Z's Roc Nation/Columbia Records imprint. Radio personality Angela Yee posted an interview with Garrett on her TeamYee.TV website, where the artist explains why he ultimately aligned with the Roc, despite maintaining a strong relationship with the Young Money/Cash Money empire.

"I feel like I'm forever indebted to [Lil] Wayne, 'cause was the first...Wayne put me on tour with him, and Wayne put me in so many positions [to grow]," Sean Garrett told Angela Yee. "I fucks with Young Money/Cash Money, I'm proud of them. But I'm a businessman, and sometimes you've got to do what's best for the future. Me and Cash Money are always gonna be available to each other. I love and respect them. [Jay-Z], that's my man! I look up to him, and he gave me an opportunity."

Sean Garrett is said to be working on his sophomore album, Courtesy of Derrick G, now due on Roc Nation/Columbia Records.
