Shyne Criticizes Def Jam Records, Seeks Deal With Cash Money

Less than a year after signing, the rapper is seeking to end his partnership with Def Jam and work with Lil Wayne and Cash Money Records.

Rapper Shyne is apparently unhappy with his current relationship with Island/Def Jam Records and in particular he finds company CEO L.A. Reid’s dedication to Hip Hop artists lacking. Speaking with SOHH.com recently the Belize-born, Flatbush Brooklyn-raised emcee mentioned the label’s alleged disorganization, stating, "I've been fixing to get up out of there for a while now because L.A. Reid don't care about Hip Hop. The people up there, they don't know what they're doing. When you don't have a strong leader, where you gonna go?”

Shyne has definite plans for where he would like to go if he can untangle himself from his Def Jam distribution deal – Lil Wayne’s Cash Money label. “I'm definitely trying to get with Cash Money….I'm not signed to Def Jam anyway, I just need to find another distributor. I might just have Cash Money do everything. Who knows? That's the beauty about being in the business for yourself. You can decide where you want to go and what you want to do.”
