A joint venture agreement has aligned R&B superstar Ne-Yo’s Compound Entertainment with music giant Island Def Jam. The multiple Grammy winner has long been a cornerstone of the Island Def Jam roster, with all three of his albums debuting at #1, but now he will sign and develop artists of his choosing. Compound Entertainment’s first project is the debut album of singer/songwriter Loren Allred, due next year.

Island Def Jam Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid had this to say about the new enterprise, “He is a unique artist, not only crafting his own series of brilliantly produced albums, but also providing big songs and hit duets for many of today’s biggest stars. We fully anticipate this to be a very successful partnership.”

Despite venturing into the business side of the industry Ne-Yo is still fully focused on his music. His new album, Libra Scale, is scheduled to be released on November 23rd.
