In other news, popular 2009 film character Black Dynamite is coming to comic books. The film’s writer and director, Scott Sanders, contacted HipHopDX to reveal that the ’70s Blaxploitation-inspired super-hero will appear in the upcoming book, Black Dynamite: Slave Island. The book comes through Ape Publishing, and is expected next year.

According to Sanders, the book “follows our hero as he seeks to put an end to a mysterious island… where an insidious 19th century legacy of The Man still exists.”

Black Dynamite is also headed to Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. The Boondocks‘ Carl Jones will executive produce the animated adaptation of Michael Jai-White’s character. That is also expected next year.

Lastly, west coast veteran duo Concrete Criminalz, consisting of longtime MC Ren protege Big Rocc and longtime Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre affiliate RBX released CCG last year. That album, which features MC Ren is re-releasing on Rocc’s imprint, coming to digital retailers in the coming month.
