Every year, the Underground Music Awards (UMAs) pay tribute to a select few legends of Hip Hop music during their annual summer awards show. This year, New Jersey trio Naughty by Nature and west coast O.G. Ice-T will join the likes of Slick Rick, EPMD, M.O.P., Kool G. Rap, Grandmaster Flash, DJ Red Alert and many more as the 2010 UMAs honorees.

Presented by Yo! Promotions and Urban Threshold, the UMAs are set to be held this August 22 at B.B. King’s Theater in New York City, and will feature perfrmances from a variety of the nominees. The awards show has 37 different categories in total ranging from “DJ of the Year” to “Most Exciting New Artist.” In the past, the UMAs have given awards to artists like Nicki Minaj, Emilio Rojas, Torae, Styles P, Freeway, Papoose, Serius Jones and many more.

A portion of this year’s proceeds will be donated to the Hope for Haitian Children Foundation, whose site can be found here. The contribution made will aid the non-profit organization in the upkeep of their two orphanages in Haiti that provide shelter to over 60 children.
