Mos Def will be making a return to theater in the upcoming production of “A Free Man of Color,” starring Jeffrey Write.

The play, written by John Guare, is being directed by George C. Wolf, according to bvnewswire.com. The story takes place in 1801 New Orleans, as Wright’s character, Jacques Comet, is the “wealthiest inhabitant of this sexually charged and racially progressive city.”

Performances for “Free Man of Color” Begin on Thursday, October 21 at 8:00 PM at the Vivian Beaumont Theater in New York City.

Erykah Badu has emerged relatively unscathed after the controversy caused by her nudity in the music video for her song “Window Seat.”

A Dallas city spokesperson revealed that Badu paid a $500 fine, and must serve six months probation for appearing nude in public. The eclectic singer was cited for disorderly conduct.

In other news, just as Swizz Beatz finishes celebrating one union, another dissolves. The producer/rapper has left Universal Motown to pursue greener pastures at Everest Entertainment and Atlantic/Warner Records to release his second solo album, reports Rap-Up.com.
