Next month the Malcolm X Grass Movement (MXGM) organization will be holding its 13th annual Black August Hip Hop Project concert to raise money and awareness for political prisoners within the United States.

With a stellar line-up of emcees that includes Dead Prez, Sadat X, Pharoahe Monch and Homeboy Sandman, MXGM member Lalit Clarkson explained the significance behind the event. “The Black August concert provides a way for us to spread awareness to a multitude of people using the powerful tool of Hip Hop for a positive cause.” As with previous shows, all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to support political prisoners.

2010’s Black August concert will take place August 13 at the Highline Ballroom in New York City. Presale tickets are now available (purchase here) for $15, while tickets at the door are $20.
