RZA Confirms Liquid Swords 2

Legendary producer RZA has announced via his Twitter page (@RZAWU) that he will be producing Liquid Swords 2, sequel to GZA’s classic album.

“IT’S TRUE: ‘LIQUID SWORDS 2’ PRODUCED BY THE ABBOT RZA COMING FALL 2010. WHO’S READY FOR THE WU? BONG BONG,” wrote RZA, whose body of work producing for the Wu from 1993 to 1997 is considered among the best in Hip Hop history. Among the albums produced in that time period was GZA’s Liquid Swords, which is heralded to this day as one of Rap’s finest albums.

The announcement comes after the recent critical and commercial successes of other Wu-Tang sequels: Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx…II and Method Man and Redman’s Blackout! 2. The Wu brand has come back strong as of late, with well-received releases in Chamber Music and Wu-Massacre, as well as others.

There is currently no set release date for Liquid Swords 2.

    2. I will def check for it but I think all these sequels are a bad idea. Raekwon shocked everybody with such a solid 10 year later sequel, but I dont see anyone else pulling it off

    3. hiphop seems to be ressurected but only by bringing back sequels from the glory ages, they hyping us up

      1. “Ayo, the brother is “Stillmatic
I crawled up out of that grave, wiping the dirt, cleaning my shirt
They thought I’ll make another “Illmatic”
But it’s always forward I’m moving
Never backwards stupid here’s another classic”

        – Nasty NaS

      2. I’d say that Fishscale was more or less Ironman 2. Ghost took it back to that soul sample/gritty sh*t on that album.

      3. @SYMBIOTEPEN

im waiting on RE, but they didnt call it train of thought 2 or anything.

what u talkin about Blackstar 2?! don’t play with my emotions like that. I dont think that album is happening is it?

        @WOLFMAN

        exactly.

      4. i noe its called stillmatic, but please don’t compare that album with illmatic..it’s not a sequel at all, illmatic would’ve never had an ether track on it to whoever wanted it back than

an album called illmatic 2 has the potential to hype up an entire universe, thats what i was getting at..

long time ago i read blackstar was working on some shit, and then they appear on the jay electronica song soo now i can only hope

    4. yep every time i hear the God spit i’m impressed. GZA’s in a class of his own lyricaly. The follow up to liquid swords should be awsome

    5. rae put a battery in the wus back with ob4cl 2. i love it. rza and gza, timeless. cant wait to hear this. i hope this drops, no bullshit. pro tools was fuckin dope. gza never spit a bad verse. one of the best lyricist ever.

    6. I think the whole sequel thing is getting played out really quickly. After Rae came out with Cuban Linx 2, which was the best rap album of 09 IMO, then pretty much everyone else started coming out with sequels. Sadat X, AZ, Caopne-n-Noreaga, etc. I’m glad you’re trying to bring the 90s sound back but you don’t have to name your new album as the sequel to your first albums. Then again, if you named your album something else, then people would ignore it and pass by it. Sorry, just my take on the whole sequel trend, but hey, if it’s good music, then I’m gonna cop it. Doesn’t matter what the album is called. Just be ready for the “40 year old coke rap” comments that people made for Rae.

      1. who gives a fuck if its dope thats all that matter really. i aint knockin u though but the music is the only think that count really.

      2. fuck the album name. its a rza/gza album. look at it like that. its justa fuckin title. if rocky 7 comes out in 2020 when sly is 80, and it sucks, the first rocky is still just as classic. a lot of hip hop fans just like to bitch. naggin, complaining, lets get back to showing love every now and then. if you cant get hyped for a rza/gza album, you listenin to the wrong art form bro.

      3. @ Kush Nap:

Nah, I love the Wu’s music. I don’t listen to those illiterate mainstream rappers. I’m just getting a little tired of the whole sequel thing, but it doesn’t mean I’m not going to check for the album when it comes out. I’m always up for a new Wu album, whether it’s solo or group, so don’t get me wrong on that.

      4. This album is a must..there’s only a few albums that even deserve a follow up and this is one of them. GZA was far too scarce on cuban linx 2. Liquid swords is a classic beyond classics. Right now we could do with some of that raw energy, on the real!!

      5. i see you miguel. the way i look at it, gza and rza together… is liquid swords. it doesnt have to be liquid swords, to be liquid swords, know what i mean? im just happy rza wants to lace niggas again. the hollywood shit is cool, but the beats is what made hollywood a possibility. if it takes these guys goin back in time to get inspired, im all for it. i find myself goin back in time for inspiration, its natural. cold lyrics, cold beats, lets hear it!

    7. i still feel like rza needs to give deck justice and bless him with an entire lp as well. he needs to be able to say that he has at least one classic under his belt.

      1. damn right, I have always thought he needed to give other wu members the same love he gave gza/mef/chef/ghost ..Rebel Ins with rza on the entire album. now that would be classic

    8. That’s a great news!! first doe or die part2 then liquid sword 2!!!! I hope GZA and AZ wont disapoint us!! because 08’s pro tools and undeniable wasnt that great

    9. Liquid Swords 2? This should be very interesting. I’m definitely looking 4ward to hearing this one. As long as the Wu has been out, I think one of RZA’s future goals should be to at least have one classic solo LP for all Wu members, especially Deck, shit’s been long overdue.

    10. Just know a great celeb site ___Tallconnect CO M___ where you can me et many big beautiful wo man and hand some guys.

    11. rza has alot of weight to hold up if hes doing this album.i mean he hasnt really made a whole album of bangers in a while with taht wu sound.hes my favorite producer of all time dont get me wrong on that i just hope has brings out major heat for this album and dont rush it.it has to be superior production is all im saying.

    12. Prior 2 Illmatic in ’94, most rap LPz only had a sole producer. That’z a seminal album of course, but it changed da game. I would love any of my favourite emceez 2 release an LP like in da old dayz. Liquid Swords 2 would work just az well with a different beatsmith boardz, ie Necro, Oh-No, Premo, Marco Polo, Alchemist or Havoc. An underrated GZA LP iz da one he made with DJ Muggs.

    13. I’d love to see this happen, with 100% production by RZA. This is definately worth looking forward to.

    14. Ill Prolly give it a listen but OB4CLII was the one of the most Overrated Albums of Last Year. Hope Liquid Swords does more to Impress

      1. its true it is overrated. like i thought rza was gonna be on it and then i listened to it and realized he was on like 2 tracks..like what the fuck kinda sequel is that.

    15. hell ya my favorite rapper with my favorite producer, gza has never made a bad album his rhymes are always on point. my view is that he’s greatest rapper ever, i really can’t say one song he had bad lyrics. i do like the move by having rza the only producer, today with all of the different producers on one album it looses focus. liquid swords is one of my top 5 favorites albums. i want the rawness from 36 chambers in the production and gza i know won’t disappoint with the lyrics.
It’s the return of the Wu, they have been putting out a lot of albums recently and they’re all good. I’m hoping for another Wu-Tang album with rza bringing back production for 36 chambers and wu-tang forever, they also need to all be in the recording studio at once to battle their verses to pick the best ones and feed off each others energy.

    16. Let’s hope this does’nt take as long as Rae’s album did.
All due respect but this was how all the controversy with CUBAN LINX 2 began. With rza making simular statements, as this quoting. That fantastic producer/rhymer chemistry Rae and RZA supposedly had while working and creating material at that time period on that album, until 8 DIAGRAMS came out.

But i know these two(rza, gza) have always been locked on as partners, the two left of the three founding members and blood relatives.

Counting on this shit to get as deep as the last one!!

    17. you’d think maybe if some of you cats had supported these guys throughout their careers and stopped expecting every thing they release to be classic, they wouldn’t have to remind you of the fact that they’re still recording dope shit by rehashing old ablum titles…that being said I’m ALL OVER this shit when it drops…wu-tang forever, muthafuckas! R.I.P. ODB

    18. …and another thing while I’m thinking about it…why do hip hop (and r&b) artists older than 35 or so feel the need to retire? Does anyone REALLY feel like KRS-one has fallen off lyrically? Is it because they’re not selling platinum albums anymore? Where are the true fans of hip hop? I mean… The Rolling Stones haven’t retired..and they’re a bunch of 70 year olds…damn people, this is OUR shit and it’s OUR responsibility to keep it alive, not the programmers and a&rs…and yes,I’m 43 years old and proud to say I love Hip Hop…

      1. I RESPECT YOU O.G……………I’M 32 AND I LOVE HIP HOP TOO.MY EARLIER MEMORY AS A CHILD WAS HEARING RAPPER’S DELIGHT WHEN I WAS 3…I RAP TOO HIP HOP GREW UP WITH ME AND VICE VERSA.I KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT HIP HOP LIKE I WAS BORN IN THE BRONX……..BUT I’M FROM CALI AND THE ONLY PERSON WHO KNOWS MORE ABOUT THIS ART THAN ME IS THEM NEW YORK OLD NIGGAS…….I LOVE THE UNDERGROUND AND I HATE THE MAINSTREAM………FUCK RAP FROM 2006-2010………….UNDERGROUND FOR LIFE!P.S. TO ALL YOU DUMBFUCKS HIP HOP AND RAP AREN’T THE SAME!

    19. FINALLY A REAL HIP HOP TOPIC ON THIS BITCH ASS SITE……I’M SICK OF HEARING ABOUT DRAKES BELLY BUTTON RING AND NICKI MINAJ’S PENIS REMOVAL!FUCK WEEZY THAT MIDGET FAGGOT CAN GET RAPED AND DIE IN PRISON………………UNDERGROUND HIP HOP 4 LIVE YOU FUCKIN SHEEP ASS BITCHES!!!

    20. I cant wait for dis album. i kinda slept on liquid swords but as i started to listen to it more i realized that it was a classic album. i just had to get used to it. i first heard gza on the legend of the liquid swords. gza is lyrically a genius, just listen to the song “fame” this is going to be a classic album for real.
