A founding member of legendary Hip Hop outfit Gang Starr, Guru is known for his hard rhymes, raspy voice and dynamic delivery. Dating back over 15 years, the Boston-born emcee had released a series of Jazz-inspired solo records under the Jazzmatazz brand.

These releases have included work and appearances from Donald Byrd, Roy Ayers, J Dilla and David Sanborn. Since going independent five years ago, the once EMI/Chrysalis releases have moved to Guru and production partner Solar’s 7Grand imprint.

As a gift to fans, the emcee behind hits such as “Words I Manifest,” “Dwyck” and “Mass Appeal” is offering Jazzmatazz Volume 4: The Hip Hop Jazz Messenger: Back To The Futurefree to fans. The LP, released on 7Grand July 31 of 2007, is available in stores and digitally. Fans who are interested are urged to support.
