Several months ago, Eminem revealed that Elton John had a hand in helping the Detroit lyricist kick his drug addiciton. Recently, Sir Elton confirmed the same in an interview.

While speaking to BBC Radio’s “The Danny Baker Show,” the singer spoke on his efforts to help Eminem get and remain clean.

“I’ve been helping Eminem over the last 18 months and he’s doing brilliantly,” said Elton John to Danny Baker. “I’m there if people want my help. If people ask for help you tell them where to go but there’s no point advising people if they don’t want to do it.”

Eminem had said in a May interview that Elton, with whom the rapper had famously performed at the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2001, was of significant assistance. “I talk to Elton a lot. We became friends and I talk to him about things, career wise. And he had a substance abuse problem in the past. So when I first wanted to get sober, I called him and spoke to him about it because, you know, he’s somebody who’s in the business and can identify and relate to the lifestyle and how hectic things can be. He understands like the pressure and any other reasons that you wanna come up with for doing drugs, you know.”

Currently, Eminem is working on his next album, Relapse 2. In the meantime, he has released an addendum to his last effort, Relapse, titled Relapse: Refill.
