DX News Bits: Asher Roth, Trae Tha Truth

In the past days, Asher Roth has had to fend off rumors claiming that he is gay. Rumblings recently hit the net that the rapper would be coming out of the closet during an E! News special which was subject to air over the holidays, according to MTV. These rumors were coupled with whisperings that Roth was also going to be dropped from his label, SRC Records. Blogs and Internet sites speculated on Roth's sexuality when he reportedly made comments supporting American Idol singer Clay Aiken, who came out earlier this year. Web sites also reported that the rapper attended a gay rights parade with Aiken, Lady Gaga, and members of Blink-182. However, SRC Records put forth a statement denying these rumors.

"Asher Roth is not gay, and is not scheduled to be interviewed on the E! channel," read the statement. "Furthermore, Asher has not been dropped from SRC Records and is a top priority at the lable after having sold over a million copies of his 'I Love College' single. Asher is currently working on his next album for SRC."

Roth has not made any direct comments regarding the rumors. 

In other news, Trae Tha Truth got into the Christmas spirit this past weekend, giving back to children in his community. The Houston native teamed up with Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee to hand out toys, sign autographs and take pictures with children in need at Lee's 15th Annual Christmas party. He also bought out an ice cream trucked parked outside of the event to treat attendees as they left the event. 

After helping to hand out 5,000 pairs of shoes at the Community of Faith Church in North Houston, the rapper visited children at the Tiara Foundation, which benefits terminally ill children, youth confined to wheelchairs, or who have parents sick with AIDS.

"Just being able to be a part of that experience was a blessing for me," said Trae about the events. "Being there with those kids had me forget about a reputation, an image, or any part of being an entertainer. I was just proud to be there. I recommend  a lot of people do the same when it comes to the less fortunate and remember, it's always somebody out there doing worse than me and you."
