This Rochester, New York native can be described as a concoction of catchy consciousness. What’s so favorable is that his savvy spirit has the honest ability to resonate with any audience.
At only 25, Emilio demonstrates hard work at its best. His last project Recession Proof was well received by the masses. The splash was momentous enough to garner him “Best Male Artist” of the year in the underground field. The EP was stock full of contemporary bangers and even included the supremely welcomed single “Way She Moves” featuring Stat Quo [click to read]. He’s been patiently waiting to blow and in the upcoming days his new release will certainly go beyond previous perimeters.
Ears are egger to be exposed to the new project DJ Green Lantern Presents Emilio Rojas – The Natural. Rojas excitedly let DX know the details of his latest digs.“I decided to call it The Natural for a number of reasons. First of all, the most obvious reason is because I have a natural yet effortless flow (I guess that’s the cockiness that I’m talking about on ‘Bold and Arrogant’ which is the tapes first leaked single. Secondly, I try to live a balanced and natural life. I have been making changes to my diet and life style that include switching to organic and raw foods, exercise, etc. The third reason is a reference to the book and film about baseball. Working with Green Lantern is very exciting as well as inspiring. He was my first thought upon deciding who I wanted to work with on this project. He and I are both from Rochester, New York – so it made sense, and he’s one of the – if not thee best deejays in the game period.”

Brick by brick, Emilio is laying down the foundation to reach his dreams and no one can argue he’s on the right path. Rojas carries a wealth of metaphors and endearing insights that allow you to walk through his footsteps as his life unfolds on wax. Is there a method to his madness, energy and swagger? “I took a different approach to creating these records. It wasn’t as rushed as Recession Proof; I did that in 10 days from start to finish. I had time to craft the records in the studio, get them mixed with stems and all of that. It is more personal than Recession Proof because it deals with specific situations from my life that provides fans and new listeners insight into who I am as a person. It was important for me to handle all the records myself. There are no features from other rappers on the tape because the subject matter is so personal. For example, I have a record written from the perspective of my father who left my family when I was young apologizing for doing my mother, my sister, and myself. There is a lot more story telling on the tape as well, records like ‘Tic Toc’ which was the second leak off the tape. It weaves my political beliefs into three different story lines that allow listeners to arrive at their own conclusions rather than me forcing my politics down their throats. This tape shows my growth.”
Emilio Rojas has displayed not only what he can do with a pen and pad, but also what truly constitutes a well rounded undeniable talent. With a style unlike any other he continues to make headway in the rap galaxy with a definite certainty to let his natural ability shine through. Never settling for mediocrity and always striving for perfection, Emilio has evolved into a world class artist.
