Cormega Clarifies Drake Statements, Nas

Cormega [click to read] has clarified misinterpreted statements made last week about Drake during a radio interview [click to read]. The Queensbridge rapper has come out to say that he feels he was misrepresented. On his LegalHustle.net message board Cormega wrote, “I NEVER DISSED HIM that shit is edited and taken out of context.”

The emcee went on to state that his problem’s were not specifically with Drake but with the idea of, as he called it, “good kids or the richs [sic] or kids from good backgrounds” rapping about street life. He continued to reiterate these sentiments in an interview with XXL. Once again, asked about Drake Cormega expanded a little bit on why he what he sees as unauthentic lyrics as detrimental to Hip Hop: “I’m just saying what’s wrong with Rap. Everybody is glorifying the stupidity, they’re glorifying the derogatory treatment of women, everything derogatory is being highlighted and used to market Hip Hop. And that’s what I am against.” He goes on to use Will Smith as a positive example of someone rapping about what they know.

Speaking on older beefs, specifically his infamous squabbles with one time ally Nas, Cormega made it seem pretty clear that a reconciliation was not on the horizon. Telling XXL, “So, it’s like, he doing his thing, I’m doing my thing. If it ever happens, it happens, but I’m not holding my breath.”
