Pi

| DVD Release | Author:

Patterns are everywhere, says the main character of Pi. In Pi, we learn that patterns exist in nature, science, religion, business, and from the movie we learn patterns apparently exist between music and film. The film is about a mans obsession with numbers, or more appropriately, a mans faith in chaos. The main character Max is wiz with numbers (like Rainman but without being retarded) who is trying to find a mathematical pattern to the stock market and ultimately tries to find the mathematical pattern to the true name of God. Very far out stuff but if you dig the Jedi Mind Tricks then you can get with this movie. Pi evokes an eerie mood with its black and white photography, trippy music and voice overs. The movie can get a bit complicated at times which, much like Violent By Design, can create complex layers which the viewer/listener must unravel to get to the central truth of the work. If you're a fan of the underground Hip Hop scene then you just might want to check out this prime example of underground film.

Violent By Design is anger bordering on psychotic. The album is a dark, edgy, paranoid, and mind numbing collection off some the best battle rap ever. The low budget, indie film, Pi, is a dark, edgy, paranoid, and mind numbingly good movie.
