Shrek

November 6th, 2001 | DVD Release | Author:

The fun and light-hearted Shrek is a wonderfully computer animated movie in its own right but it is also a comical send-up of most other animated movies out there (ahem...Disney). Dreamworks and Pacific Data Imaging do a good job at poking fun at the standard animated kid's film. Which is why the movie works both with kids and adults. There fun for everyone in this film.

Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers) is a big ogre who lives alone in the woods, feared from all the people in the land of Duloc. When Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow), the ruler of Duloc, exiles all the fairy-tale beings in the woods, Shrek loses his peaceful life and his home becomes a refugees camp. So, he sets to find Lord Farquaad and convince him to take the fairy-tale beings back where they belong, and leave him alone. Lord Farquaad accepts, under one condition. Shrek must first go and find the beautiful young princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz), who will become Farquaad's bride. So, the big Ogre begins his quest, along with his newfound donkey friend (voiced by the scene stealing Eddie Murphy).

But what makes a good DVD is not just the movie (well, its mostly the movie) but also the DVD's extra features. And Shrek has quite a few:
