Here’s the story…it’s dark and two strangers awake in a shithole of a room…both are shackled by the ankle to pipes on opposite sides of the room. Neither can remember how they got there…what would you do?
A tape-recorded voice tells that them one of them will have to kill the other in the next eight hours, or they'll both die. There's just one snag: the only way to get out of their manacles is to use a hacksaw on their ankles...
This film offers a unique perspective in the idea of fear of the unknown and the idea that a psychopath could actually get you to kill yourself other than face being entombed alive.
The storyline is simple…there’s a killer out there who doesn’t actually kill his victims. He manages to place each of his victims in a situation that reflects their lives…or what the victims thought their lives should be.
The unwilling captives…Dr Gordon (Ewles) is a cocky surgeon who has lost his compassion for the Human spirit and Adam (Emerson), who is a photographer used to not living life but living through watching others through his lens…try to figure out what's going on.
Through Dr Gordon’s recollections and memories we find out about the past victims of the killer and his methods. Danny Glover portrays a cop brought to the edge of insanity after losing his partner and being nearly killed himself by the psycho known as The Jigsaw Killer.
This is a movie for people who like fear.
The title of the film refers to the drastic measures some of us might go to in order to survive and protect those that we love…though a horror film, Saw offers a unique appreciation of life…and knowledge that this could actually happen in our world.
