For those who don't know who Double is, let'em know

Haha yea...I'm a 19 year old emcee out of the beautiful city of Marietta, GA...but we call it Murderetta! Haha, Im just an emcee that has been through his ups and downs in the industry and Ive finally landed on my feet. My main focus in music is to just bring that raw lyricism back, I gotta show another side of the south right now.

At 19, most people can't say they've already seen ups and downs in this industry. When did you learn rule 4080?

I put out a CD when I was 16 with my man T-Rey, we really had no idea what we were doing, we just knew we loved hip hop. Then when we released his album Reality and got signed by a local indie label AP; that soured in like 6 months. That shit opened our eyes to the sharks in the industry. Since then my man went to play division one ball and I just kept rhyming and doing mixtapes. Ive been approached by a few major labels since then but every time its the same story...everybody bullshits!!!

What kind of shit are you hearing from the labels?

You know same old bullshit, "we really like your sound, youre totally different, bla bla bla, come to our office. By the end of the meeting or the end of the studio session they are trying to turn me into a fucking white Maceo...like ya'll wanted me for me but want me to rhyme all fucking ignorant and shit, that shit really pisses me off. I'm really not impressed by these big offices or studios or what not, I am not going to compromise my artistic integrity for some fucking old people who don't know shit about rap!

Same story, different artist huh. So what is the game plan now?

Well its funny cause as much as I despise the record industry, eventually I am going to need it. I would really like a record contract that is up to par, I am not totally ruling out these majors...But as of now were starting slow, I got a promotion team behind me NVision Ent, my man Nate hooked me up with a tight website www.doublesworld.com, I got a ill producer now Mdubb who has been feeding me beats and Ive been recording down at his studio Analysis in ATL. Ive got a new record coming out, Best Kept Secret Vol.2, which is mostly original tracks, kinda like a Pre-Ep that Im going to release by Christmas. It will be available for free on my website just like all my others and Ima just keep grinding and shopping around for the right deal. Without a deal, how critical has the internet been to getting your name out there?

Way more than it gets its credit for, that's for damn sure. I have been able to release my mixtapes just via internet; people have been downloading them all over the world and burning them for their friends. That is such a huge help, I appreciate my internet fans so much and I try to answer every email or AIM that people have been shooting at me. The internet is where Ive kinda honed my skills, posted some tracks and just try to get my name out there...Shout out to HHDX!

Yeah you've won a battle or two on the message board huh? Those mixtapes you're offering up for free, how many have you gotten out there now?

Haha yeah the message boards have honed ya boy's skill! But as far as numbers for the mixtape, Ive gotten 5000 out of just the Starving Artist Mixtape in ATL and the Atlanta area...on the internet I have no idea. I do know that I released the Best Kept Secret Vol. 1 on the internet for like 2 months before I pressed them up in the ATL...that first week I got over 250 downloads. As of now, I have no ideabut I am very appreciative of the people that download them and spread the word.
