Ron Browz: Make Hits or Die Tryin
Harlem is real serious right now, or should I say Harlem has been serious forever now. The biggest entrepreneurs come from there, the biggest artists (well not all of them but a good majority), and so does one of the biggest upcoming producers. I shouldnt even call him upcoming because he has produced for the late Big L. The one man that produced (without even knowing it) the beat for one of hip hops biggest feuds between. Im talking about the very much laid back humble and hot man, behind the infamous Ether! We all know that story but its time to know this producer for all of his other contributions to hip hop, and they didnt just start with Ether. Im talking about none other than Sir Ron Browz. He has also produced for the Late Big L, Ludacris, DMX, Tony Yayo and Lil Kim to name a few, and he is also working with 50 and others. It just would take to long to put the list out there but you get my point. In fact this little man has a song in 50s Get rich or Die Trying movie. I would say he is a big deal, and he certainly does big deals, at least that's what I would say when you are under 30 years of age and are working with those names.
I actually expected him to be a little arrogant when I had the honor to interview him, but he was not arrogant at all. Some people have heard of him but have they really heard all his accomplishments? Do they understand how many hits he has under his belt? Most of the people know that he did Ether but when I read his bio and actually went on a rainy day to Harlem to meet him, I was surprised how cool he was. I know enough up and coming producers that havent even had the honor to work with Nas. Its refreshing to see that theres still producers like Ron that are in it for the music. Even though it was rainy we had a good conversation, although he is not a talker.
Now lets start with the beginning, he signed his first deal at 12 (of course as a rapper) and unfortunately when he was around 16 his label boss got incarcerated and what was left was some equipment. So little Ron started playing around with it and started doing some beats. He sold his first beat to Big L of which I am amazed and want to know how exactly he did it
One day I was standing outside in Harlem and Big L walked by. I had just made some beats and I just told him that I had some beats and if he would like to listen to some of them and he said yes. He came upstairs and heard the beats. He picked one and that (song became) Ebonics. That's the first beat I sold and I sold it to Big L
Simple you think?! Not really, because if you think about it, how many guys try to approach an artist and get brutally turned down? Ron situation was different, especially for someone like him that never learned how to use equipment. He taught himself all of it! So he either was lucky or he was just meant to be a producer in this industry! To be that age and have the patience, drive and passion to spend hours and teach your self how to use all that equipment is incredible. He has a hand for hits such as Ludacris Blow It Out and Big Ls Ebonics as well as Lloyd Banks Play Boy and even upcoming rapper Jae millz with Who. When asked what his biggest accomplishment is he answers
To have a score 50s "Get Rich or Die Trying" movie. Like the song (Ill Whip Ya Head Boy) is gonna be in the movie! I thinks thats my biggest accomplishment.
Its not surprising that is his answer, but that's not his only goal
I would definiitely like to work with Nelly, but I love to work with new artists. I like to break new artists. I like upcoming ones and I like to make them sound hot.
And he certainly does that for established artists as well as upcoming. What is unbelievable for someone that works with big names is that Ron Browz seems very available. Hes very humble and laid back which might be one of the reasons why he has so much success. Of course with success, certain things change in life but that doesnt seem to be a problem for Ron

Now Mr. Browz is not a talker, which is not really a problem, but I had the feeling he was a little shy. Some people feel more comfortable talking to people they know, and I wasnt one of them. He certainly has a positive aura surrounding him, and he makes people feel comfortable around him. Im sure he knows that already but I heard that plenty women in the industry are eyeing him, maybe that's one of the reasons why he is so damn confident.
I ask him who his favorite rappers are currently, I like a lot of rappers (he pauses) I like Lloyd banks he says.
Of course Ron already has his own label called Money Ave.. His artists name is T-rex and Im sure Ron will provide his artists with the hottest beats.
For Now we should keep our ears open for his upcoming work and his artist T-rex. Its Time for Ron to get the respect and recognition he deserves for being one of the most talented producers out there. He has what it takes to make it last; the looks, the attitude and (the most important) he certainly has the talent.
