HHDX: I don’t want to end on a sour note, but I do wanna get an update on your mentor Marley Marl’s condition since his heart attack back in June, how’s he doing?
Pete Rock: He’s doing great. He’s doing much better. I picked him up from that ordeal. I was kinda shocked. When I heard the news I just dropped everything. I heard he was in the hospital and I ran up there and checked him out. But he’s good.

HHDX: Yeah, I think he was saying it was maybe just stressed induced.
Pete Rock: Yeah, a lot of stress…and bad eating. You gotta switch your diet as you get older. I mean, I’m only 36 and I’m trying to be a vegetarian. The red meat I don’t eat at all. That’s easy. But as far as the fish and chicken, I’m trying to get off of that. I’m trying to do the whole vegetarian thing, ‘cause as you get older you don’t want things like that to happen.
