December 13th, 2006 | Author: Quinton Hatfield

HHDX: So how long you been working on this album?

YJ: It’s been a couple months, I jumped off the road about four or five months ago and been at it ever since. I had to pull myself off the road, you know what I mean.

HHDX: So it’s been a full-time grind!

YJ: Yeah.

HHDX: You still going to be ad-libing all crazy [laughs]?

YJ: I mean... that’s how I feel man. I’m a do whatever sounds right to me and just let the people ride with that. At the end of the day ad-libing just showed something different about my music. A lot of cats just record, I went in and did the extras to bring it out a little more, cause that’s how I feel.

HHDX: Yeah, cause everybody be saying you took ad-libing to a whole different level.

YJ: [Laughs] Yeah, you know how that goes man.

HHDX: So who’s featured on this album as far as producers, artist, everybody?

YJ: I pretty much went with the same cats as far as production. Shawty Red, DJ Toomp, DJ Smurf, Drumma Boy, cats like that. I got some good features, I got Ludacris, Keishia Cole, 3-6 Mafia, T.I., just to name a few.

HHDX: Okay, so you have a favorite song or whatever?

YJ: Yeah I got this joint called “What you talking bout”, it’s crazy and DJ Smurf produced that.

HHDX: Now with you being one of the top dudes in the south and everything, how long you think the south is going to dominate the game.

YJ: I mean we just making music homey, we never looked at it liked that. People just paying attention to what we doing now which is cool, so we just grinding man and that’s what we do. You ever come down to the south we don’t pay attention to what’s going on around us, we just do what we do and stay on the grind. Everybody loving what’s going on right now, ain’t nobody tryna put no time limit on it. We just doing what we do to keep it strong to keep the movement going.

HHDX: Yeah, but that’s what keep ya’ll strong, because everybody be showing love down south too.

YJ: Yeah, but you know it’s more of a southern hospitality thing down here. A cat would feel a certain way if you in the club and don’t speak to him, but we speak to each other. It’s the same thing with other artist, that’s why me and T.I. so cool. Me and Ludacris been seeing each other half our lives, but you know we just in a different position now. We just got to keep the city on lock and keep the city strong, you feel me. Continued on page 5 »
