Sometimes Hip Hop can move at a pace too frantic for even the most devoted fan to keep up with. Albums and mixtapes are released at breakneck speed, careers are made and broken with the swipe of a pen, and somewhere in between all the madness actual music (the quality of which vacillates between excellent and god awful) is being made. Twitter provides a nice summary of everything 140 characters at a time. And if you’re the type that would rather not be bothered with stepping into the Twitterverse to catch up on the latest in Hip Hop, we’ve filtered through the top rapper’s tweets and consolidated all the week’s events into one convenient feed.
This week, Action Bronson kills a freestyle on Hot 97, Lil Wayne announces his “Sorry For The Wait 2” mixtape, and 2 Chainz interrupts a marijuana debate with a “TRUUUU.”

Hip Hop lost one of its brightest stars last night when A$AP Yams passed away from, what is now, unknown circumstances. He had very strong connections within and outside of his sphere of influence. He loomed large, and the news of his death filled a great many with a piercing sadness. Of course, there is too much to print here.

A$AP Yams Final Tweet
BODEINE BRAZY
— …… (@ASAPYams) January 17, 2015
A$AP Yams died this morning from circumstances unknown. And other than the tearful odes to the aspiring mogul and co-founder of A$AP Mob flooding your Twitter timeline you’ve got this final dispatch from the man. A supremely confident and undoubtedly complicated man, A$AP Yams fanned the flames last year when he claimed 2014 was the worst year in Rap. Whether he was correct or not is not the point. He had a penchant for catching a whiff of the zeitgeist and saying what others wouldn’t. HipHopDX stands in solidarity with A$AP Mob in this trying time, and sends our unremitting condolences to his friends and family.
