Sometimes Hip Hop can move at a pace too frantic for even the most devoted fan to keep up with. Albums and mixtapes are released at breakneck speed, careers are made and broken with the swipe of a pen, and somewhere in between all the madness actual music (the quality of which vacillates between excellent and god awful) is being made. Twitter provides a nice summary of everything 140 characters at a time. And if you’re the type that would rather not be bothered with stepping into the Twitterverse to catch up on the latest in Hip Hop, we’ve filtered through the top rapper’s tweets and consolidated all the week’s events into one convenient feed.

This week, ScHoolboy Q tweets about Ab-Soul’s battle with Daylyt, DJ Quik apologizes after thinking that his music was not available on Dr. Dre’s Beats Music, and Troy Ave shows us that he has his priorities straight.

The Ab-Soul vs. Daylyt Battle Track

“Tha Ab-Soul vs. Daylyt battle” that ScHoolboy Q is referring to is a 23-minute battle found at the end of Ab-Soul’s album, These Days… The slow-moving battle against the Los Angeles battle rapper comes as a surprise as it is tacked on to the end of “W.R.O.H.,” the last song on the tracklist. In HipHopDX’s review of These Days…, the writer calls the battle “one of the album’s best moments, with Soul digging in as deep lyrically as anywhere else.” You have to remember, Daylyt is a seasoned battle rapper where as Soul is experimenting for the sake of understanding the art and to shine on a sector of Hip Hop that often gets overlooked.

The Time DJ Quik That His Music Was Not On Beats Music App

When these tweets are read out loud in a CAPS LOCK voice, they’re hilarious. DJ Quik angrily tweeted into the Twittersphere that he was upset with Dr. Dre’s Beats Music. “THIS IS PERSONAL,” he said. “ITS ON,” he said. No word on what ignited the tweets but the emcee must have not done his own search on the app because if he would have searched himself, he would have seen that it was all a big misunderstanding. Instead, he was so mad at Dr. Dre that he threw old beef in his face and brought up Tupac. Pac and Dre had a falling out during their time at Deathrow Records. He later realized it was all a mistake and apologized. Definitely should have looked it up yourself, Quik, but thanks for the entertainment.

Snoop Dogg Supporting USA In World Cup

Snoop Dogg is one of the many emcees that have been actively watching games and rooting on their favorite teams during the World Cup 2014 tournament. Team USA played against Germany in the third game of their group and Snoop was right there offering support via Twitter with a patriotic picture attached. It was an important game for the Americans but although they lost, the team still qualified for the next round. Let’s hope Snoop he puts on his red, white and blues for the next game because the team will need all the support they can get.

Busta Rhymes & Eminem Collaborate On A New Track

Busta Rhymes and Eminem have been spotted in the studio together. The proof is in the picture. Busta used Twitter to announce the release date for “Calm Down,” the name of his new collaboration with Eminem. Back in September 2013, he spoke on a collaboration with Em saying, “I’ve got a six-minute record with Eminem that sounds like we are respectfully trying to battle each other in a way that you probably never heard us battle in our entire careers on a record.” It is unclear if the song he was referring to is “Calm Down,” but if so, we’re in for great music on July 1st.

Chuck D Shares A Letter From Tupac

Some people can flex on Twitter like no other, like the time Chuck D shared a picture of a personal letter written in 1995 by Tupac Shakur. In the letter, Pac asks Chuck D to collaborate on a program, a movie and a track for his next album, Euthanasia (which was later renamed All Eyez On Me). The fallen legend signed off the letter with, “I just received word that my bail pending appeal has been granted so I should be free by the time you receive this… I just signed 2 Deathrow so I should be working on this album soon. Thanks again Chuck!” The words “I just signed 2 Deathrow” coming from Tupac sends instant chills down my spine.

Rick Ross paid tribute to the singer, sending positive thoughts to the Womack family and sharing a picture he took with the singer. In October 2013, Ross expressed his respect for Womack to MTV. “I actually just got off the phone with Bobby Womack less than an hour ago,” he said. “He’s one of my favorites. … We just spoke on it, so we got a little connecting to do, but it’s feeling good.” Rozay was one of the many emcees who sent condolences to Womack’s loved ones and respected his legacy. Womack, who was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2012, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.

Styles P On The Best Summertime Record

When Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff released “Summertime” 23 years ago, they didn’t know it was going to be a classic. Twenty-three years later, the song is still getting spins at pool parties, daytime BBQs and every other summer even you can think of. Styles P recognizes this. He tweeted a random thought, probably while listening to the nostalgic track, saying, “The fact that Will Smith to this day still has the best summer time record is crazy.” He’s right on the money. If you’re song is still considered the “best summer time record” after twenty years, that makes it a classic. Last month, HipHopDX spoke to DJ Jazzy Jeff on the making of “Summertime.” Read the full interview here.

Troy Ave Has His Priorities Straight

It’s BET Awards weekend in Los Angeles and many East Coasters have flown in for the festivities. The problem is many of them pay their own way to the West Coast. If you had the chance to stay home and make money, which would you chose? Troy Ave asked himself that question and it looks like the New York emcee made the right choice. Instead of popping bottles and spending money, why not stay back and make a quick $11,000? Troy Ave has his priorities straight.
