Michigan may be home of former NBA champs – the Detroit Pistons – but for Ms. Pallas Mosley, it only serves as a constant reminder of what she can have if she, too, works hard. The caramel skinned Pisces has been a quiet, yet strong, force in the modeling world. She’s appeared in various magazines along the likes of Don Diva and Big Tigger’s Kitten Calendar. The graduate from Baker Community College holds a degree in Criminal Justice.

But this beauty isn’t limited to the mean streets of Michigan and is turned off by extra ghetto BET thugs. She’s pretty much a hard working woman dedicated to creating a future for herself. Even if a snorer is her idea of a night through hell, the woman with the buttery smooth skin and bedroom eyes is a dream all unto her own.

Ms. Pallas Mosley
sits down with Beauty & Brains as she talks about why being extra ghetto is a turn-off, reminiscences on going toe to toe with a pimp and expresses interest in being on Flavor of Love Season 3?! You be the judge!

B&B: Pallas… that’s a very unique name – what does it mean?

PM:
There is a news anchor lady who has the name Pallas and I liked the name. So, I changed it and it has stuck with me ever since then. Honestly, there’s no drawn out story to it, I just liked the name and went with it.

B&B: Aside from looking good – what got you involved in modeling?

PM: Actually, I was at a bar and Hypnotiq was doing a promotional stop there. They had girls and whatnot – who were models and when they came to give a sampler the distributor asked me if I wanted to work for him. I didn’t believe him at first, but we exchanged numbers. When I called him, he was legit and I was with it from then on. One of the promotions that we did was with Eye Candy Modeling. It was there where a photographer then saw me and I started working with him. It was on from there, you know? [Laughs] I’ve been in KING Magazine, Don Diva and they had a nice little picture of me in Smooth Magazine. I was in Slum Village’s Selfish video and I went on tour with Snoop Dogg.

Beauty & Brains: How was it touring with the Doggfather?

Pallas Mosely: It was all really fun except for the fact that there was a guy over us by the name of Pimpin’ Ken.

B&B: The Pimpin’ Ken [laughs]?

PM: Yeah… I guess. [Laughs] We kept bumpin’ heads every time! But as far as touring with the rest of the girls and with Snoop, it was all fun!

B&B: So, what was the problems that you and Ken kept having?

PM: He kept referring to the girls on the tour as “bitches and ho’s” – that is unacceptable with me. I’m not one to be called that and I’ll be damned if anyone else is either! I’m not going to let a man say that to me in – that’s disrespectful! The funny thing was that it didn’t bother most of the girls! For me, I wasn’t any one of those things for him to be talking to me like that.

B&B: Did Snoop do anything about it?

PM: We were in two different buses and one of his managers talked to me about it trying to calm me down – but I ended up leaving early. It was myself and Ivonnah Erskine left.

B&B: So, then what keeps you going in a profession where millions of other beautiful bodies are competing for the same limelight that you’re going for?

PM:
I would have to say that I try to look at myself and focus on me and not others. I am trying to do this for myself. If it’s meant for me, then I’m going to get that. I don’t think that I’m prettier than the rest, because it’s all decided by others who think that you’re pretty. Right now, my goal is to make it past this audition for the next season of Flavor of Love 3.

B&B: Why audition for Flava Flav?
PM:
I want to be on the show. It’d be something to do. After seeing both seasons and knowing both girls, I believe that it’s a chance of a lifetime. It’s a one time thing. It can haunt you for the rest of your life, but that’s only when you go out there and act crazy! Look at Buckeey – she’s kept her composure. You don’t hear anything negative about her. People will say anything to get a rise out of others. Gossiping folks are a way of life. You’d never think that she’s out of order, because she conducted herself well. You hear so many rumors about Hoopz, and it’s not true. It’s just because she’s in the limelight. We were modeling together. Now everyone in the world have something to say about her. If you go on there like a bitch, that’s how everyone is going to know you as. If you let those people tell you to go out there and act an ass, then that’s your fault.

B&B: One of your turn-offs was men who are extra ghetto. What do you mean by that?

PM:
What I mean by extra ghetto is that your persona is more extra. It’s just that. I’m going to give you a good example. Let’s say you and I are talking, and you know how to hold an intelligent conversation. Then, here comes Keisha and she just comes out of pocket, acting so extra. Don’t get me wrong, I’m ghetto too, but there’s a time to turn it on and turn it off. It’s more so how they act, instead of where they’re from. Just because you’re from the suburbs doesn’t mean that you can’t be ghetto, too. Everybody has their positives and negatives, but you don’t have to be extra with everything. [Laughs]

B&B: Well, according to your blog on MySpace, you get some pretty raunchy comments from time to time. What has been the worst that you’ve ever received?
PM:
They’re all pretty much neck and neck, but the one that pissed me off was one that was from this guy… He said something about a picture that I had on my page. His comment was something about replacing my underwear with his tongue! I don’t know if it was irritating because he said that or because I didn’t know him. I just thought like, “Wow, you can’t be serious.” I mean think about it… he didn’t even know if I was really a woman! [Laughs] I could’ve been a man for all he knew.

B&B: Awhile ago on MySpace, you talked about making some major changes in your life. What were they and why?
PM: The changes that I made were some deletions on both my page and in real life. I had to reevaluate my whole situation. I felt like I was stuck and stagnated. It was mainly because of the people who were in my circle. Since then, I have gotten out of that rut. If you stay around a bunch of negative people, you find yourself turning into that same person. I got tired of people coming up to me thinking that I was mad. But deep within, I wasn’t happy because of my surroundings.

B&B: So, what moves did you make?

PM:
The people I was with were saying that I was too old to model. They had me considering quitting the game. I thought that my time was over. If I had all these people in my ear, they were telling me what was going on in the business and not trying to pick me up while I was down. Now that I’ve gotten back into the game after cutting those guys, I’ve been getting requests to do photo shoots and all that now. Sometimes you really have to make changes to see the best in things.

B&B: Ultimately, where do you see yourself?

PM:
I see myself getting a little bit more exposure and getting into the business of modeling, not just being a model. I want to come out with my own agency… just maybe. But I do want to dabble in that field. I love the business. Even if I don’t model anymore, I’d still want to have my foot in the door in the business, somehow. I’m not sure how, but I know that I can just take one day at a time.

B&B: What do you think is the difference between a woman who people think looks good and a woman who knows she looks good?

PM:
Two different people thinking about one person [laughs]. I’m all for it [looking good] – if you don’t believe you’re beautiful then who will. I do cop a problem when people who know they’re pretty use it to hurt other people. I wouldn’t like a woman who said that she’s constantly boosting herself up while tearing me or others down. You could be a mongoose and still have something beautiful about yourself. There’s someone for everyone out there in this world.

B&B: On your page it says that you graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. What’d you want to do with it – become a lawyer or a police officer?

PM:
Actually, I went to a police academy, but I stopped because I got nervous. I did an internship at a prison. It was pretty interesting. It was mainly because I was a female. When I came in, the prisoners were retarded. I used to make them smile. It would make me feel good because they hadn’t smiled in years. When the riot broke out, I was like, “Peace out…” I didn’t want to do it no more. I changed my career from that point on. When I’m forty, then I’ll do something with it, but right now, nah… I’m good! [Laughs].

B&B: I’m sure some lucky criminal would be happy to let you slap some handcuffs on him [laughs].
PM: [Laughs] Yeah.

B&B: If you were to defend someone like Michael Vick with his current legal woes – do you think that they’d convict him?

PM: [Laughs] Yeah. They would! I’m serious. [Laughs] They would convict him and I’ll tell you why. I wouldn’t be able to represent him anyway because I’m not with what he’s doing. I love pets and I lost a lot of respect for him after what happened. I couldn’t even defend him. I think you treat your pets how you’d treat your child. With all that money, he could’ve taken care of those dogs. Why’d he let that happen?

B&B: What’s next for Ms. Pretty Pallas?
PM:
Well, hopefully, I’m praying that I get into this Flavor of Love Season 3 thing. If that doesn’t work, then I’ll just submit my photo to different people to see where it goes.
