Persian
Beauty & Brains brings Persian (sorry guys you gotta be special to get her real name) for you viewing and reading pleasure. In this interview, she talks about what makes a woman want to pose for the camera, why nothing in life is for free and ponders how much trouble a size-47 can get her into.
B&B: Does that size-47 ever get you into trouble [laughs]…?
Persian: Let me tell you this, it’s definitely a gift and a curse. People discriminate against you. They anticipate things and treat you accordingly to what they assume. So, yes, it does get you into trouble. I’d have to go through adversity with both men and women. Guys would try to talk to me and I’d push them down because I wouldn’t want to talk to them. I’d get treated unfairly in the workplace. Individuals wouldn’t want me around their boyfriends because they think that I’d ruin their relationship. It’s sort of a handicap when people anticipate who you are without knowing you. I try to flip it on them, though. In elementary school, I’d dress down because I didn’t want people to know that I got a body.
B&B: Well, I know that there’s probably a lot of noise made about your lady humps, but what do you like most about yourself?
P: I love my mind. You can’t do anything without it. I love my morals, too. I’m working on investing on my future, but I don’t want to do it by stripping or trickin’. The only way you’d see me nude is if someone photo-shopped it. But I love my mind, but with the physical features, I love my eyes and I love my smile.
B&B: What goes on in a woman’s mind that makes her want to pose provocatively for men’s delight?
P: Initially, I was against the whole idea of modeling. I used to be a shy person, but I got to the point where I thought of an intelligent way to use it to my advantage. I think that’s how people look at it; Tyra Banks is sexy, a model and a businesswoman and they’d look at me like I’m just a video vixen. If a million people like me, then a million people will listen to me.
B&B: This quote resonated with me. You say, “There is no such thing as a free lunch, if you’re hungry enough, you’ll eat.” Was anything going on in your life to where this statement became inspirational to you?
P: A lot of times, this is what I hate about individuals. Everybody have things that are hard for them. I hate when people blame Bush and blame White people for things that go on that are within their control. There’s no excuse as to why you can’t get what you want out of life. There is open opportunity. You can figure it out. There are so many hustles. You can cut some grass, take pictures and all that. To me, people are just lazy. They’re not hungry enough. I hate excuses. Everybody has to work hard. Nothing is going to come free, but if you want to achieve your goal, you’re going to have to eat. People aren’t motivated and at the end of the day, it’s the have’s and the have not’s. A lot of people, to me – there should be more billionaires in the world. Take a look at 50 Cent. Records sales are down, so people have to have supplemental income. They talk about these incomes, but why aren’t they having more sponsorships. You should be promoted by everything!
B&B: Now, you don’t want to just be known as a girl who shows it all off for the camera. What other plans do you have for yourself when this modeling thing gets stale?
P: I’m only in this because I’m just trying to brand myself. When my website comes up, I’ll be solely obsessed with promoting myself. I got the name “Persian” because I started up a television show. I didn’t want to use my real name and my girl couldn’t come up with a name. But I have these slanted eyes with long eyelashes and it kind of resembled a cat, so I went with the name “Persian.” My website is going to be free, but there will be a member’s only site, too. I am going to talk a lot about health. Only a few read it when I was on my MySpace. But I am going to have different YouTube’s and I’ll be talking about things like radiation to eating more healthfully. I am going to overly promote that shit. This is for everybody. My target audience is everyone. I’m not trying to compete with these other chicks out here.
B&B: I’m pretty sure guys all over would love to topple your Persian Empire – but what really makes you aggie when it comes to the opposite sex trying to get on with you?
P: Nothing. I don’t respond to this shit. People don’t know any better. If you were raised by idiots, then you’re one yourself. I can’t fault one for writing me disrespectful notes. It doesn’t bother me. It takes a lot to get me mad. I’m seasoned in a lot of things of what people say. But if I’m in a place where ignorance lurks, then I’m not really mad at it. If every comment irked me, then I couldn’t handle the pressure of the business. I’d be in the wrong profession if I acted like that. It takes a lot to piss me off. When they come at me the wrong way, I smile it off, say what I got to say and keep it moving. How could you get mad at someone who doesn’t know better?
B&B: In your pictures, you strike a variety of scintillating poses. If you were to be doing a private photo shoot for your man – what would you do for him that’d be different than for a magazine?
P: [Laughs] Man… I don’t know. Whatever he wants… I’m a pleaser.
B&B: The industry is a shady game with a cast of characters, indeed. How do you think you’d be able to make an impact on a game that has seen a lot of fiery stars burn out quickly?
P: That’s cause they weren’t using what they had. Buffie’s the best woman to look at as far as making this into something long term; Melyssa [Ford] is smart, too. You can tell that they’re doing other stuff. Others are waiting for a video shoot. The smart ones have to be beautiful and a businesswoman. They look at the title of being a model. They want opportunities, I create them. Their goals have been met, but mines exceed those.
