Mack 10
Bang or Ball
With their problems over the summer concerning Juvenile's departure and claims that they still owe him money, it looked like curtains. But maybe Mack is exactly what Baby and Slim needed to change that outlook.
Featuring the entire Cash Money roster, the album also features Dr. Dre, Scarface, Xzibit, Butch Cassidy and even a reformed Wesside Connection.
The thing about this album is that the first five seconds of practically every song sound like a banger but then they switch and let you down. The few odd ones include "Hate In Yo' Eyes" featuring Dr. Dre as producer and rapper and a hook taken from the Bee Gees' staying Alive. Also, "So Serious" featuring the Big Tymers which is classic down south flavour, "Let It Be Known" featuring Scarface and Xzibit, "Mathematics" and "Connected For Life" featuring Ice Cube and WC, which you have to hear to believe. But the wack ball rolls down and picks up speed as Mannie's production becomes repetitious and each track just becomes a memory.
After the subsequent demise of Hoo' Bangin, Mack 10's future looked bleak but with the help from his West Coast brethren and Mannie Fresh, Mack has made an accepting return. Maybe a Colombo with wifely T-Booze might break him through to the mainstream. But a creative effort nonetheless.
