Ok so first of all please pardon the spelling and grammar (there are errors all over this blog), I'm writting this on my sidekick (3, I'm getting the LX when I get back...truthfully I wanna switch to something that doesn't have painfully-slow-shoot-yourself-in-the-fucking-head internet speed but I love the sidekick keyboard) Anyway I'm out here in Miami with J. Cardim and my artist G-Eyez (www.myspace.com/respectandpower) and Its raining like a bitch, south beach is fucking empty, shit is really wack. We're down here trying to build with artists and shit. (shout to Papa Smirf and the whole Poe Boy clique + Jay Rob and his artist OZ, lookout for that kid, he's fire)
Ok so the subject "Its All About Wayne." I really diddnt wanna write a blog about weezy because this guy is the subject of so many people's blogs already, but shit, yall love wayne. It seems like no matter what song or blog (including my last one) it is, the convo in the comments always ends up going to Weezy F. Maybe (Gay)...sorry, its too easy (shout 2 the boy Tuge for that one haha)...Off bat let it be known that we've been rocking wayne in the rental car pretty much the whole time we've been down here (that new empire tape is killin em..fuck u bitch, my shirt brand new) and I am a weezy fan. That being said, weezy is probobly the most inconsistent rapper in the game. But shit, can u blame him? Homie drops like 4 songs a week, so even if only 1 of them is hot (and his percentage is better than that) then dude is still putting out a lot of good music. In fact, the new issue of Vibe Magazine has an article in it that lists the 77 best wayne appearences of the year. (I wonder how they were able to narrow it down from 19282736473929273920472027392292739287392938320308301930207474 they had 2 choose from) In that sense, I see where the 2pac comparisons come from. On the other hand though I think wayne is a little more like a nas...not because of his music in any way but because they both say fucking outlandish shit in interviews. (in fact, in the comment section everyone should leave their favorite ridiculous wayne or nas quote)
Ok so why do I like wayne u ask? On top of the reasons that everyone says, (swagger, he says original/nonsensical things that u can't help but laugh at, and u have 2 admit, he does go in lyrically about half the time) I like wayne because he has a quality that is needed in order to be a great artist. (not rapper, mc, lyricist...ARTIST) He has soul. Its a quality that makes "regrets" "lucky me" and "song cry" some of Jay-Z's best material. Without this emotive quality, an artist cannot connect with his fans on a human level. What's cool about wayne is that on his soulful songs he's not afriad to portray himself as the victim. (see anyone of his songs where he cries over nivea, trina, superhead or whoever he's fucking this week) Most rappers have wayyyy too many insecurity issues to ever admit that they've lost at anything ever....ever. Now as far as being the best alive, I can't really get with that. I mean maybe the best rapper this year or like these past 2 years but another important quality in a great artist is longevity and who knows where wayne will be in a couple years. This is the kind of game where a rapper can go from the biggest name out, to irrelevant faster than u can say DMX.
Btw since we're on the subject, who do u think is gonna come our first (if ever) saigon or dr dre? Damn, that could be its on blog...shit maybe ill break that down in the next joint...
Ok, so, new section. (My transitions are incredible I know, my high school english teachers would be so proud...they also hated when I used parentheses) I kinda noticed in reading other people's blogs on other sites (that dude bol on xxlmag.com is a monster) that pretty much no one responds to the commenters (prolly cause yall are the same fucking losers I was talking about in the last blog) but I fuck with yall for reading my shit so lets converse. Here are a couple comments from my last entry that I thought were interesting. (This is also a good way to address my campaign to get fans off their labtops and on a checkout line at Best Buy)
"Mainstream like the generals sitting at base camp behind desks putting out public announcements and shit and reaping the benefits while the underground artists like the grunts in the trenches doin the real shit......To each her own though. Mainstream just that shit that's been bought and paid for by corporate america and jammed down ya throat.
Where as if you into some underground artist, it's cause you had to go out searching on ya own and found some shit you fell in love with."

That last part was really beautiful in a gay kind of way but I feel u. 'When did you fall in love with hip hop' brown sugar? (Rin and Tin the hip hop dalmations are the illest ever...the hoe is miiiinnneee) Anyway, I digress, that comparison to the army surely has some validity but these days record labels don't really build artists anymore so its not quite as manufactured as it seems. Its just that the artists who create the biggest local buzzes get deals so the label can do as little work as possible. I think a major issue today is that record labels only have 5 or 6 ways of marketing hip hop. They figure why spend money on marketing techniques that cater to new audiences (like say, the audio section commenter audience) when they can just continue to sign artists who fit into those 5 or 6 marketing stradegies that they already know? That's why there is no inovation in the game. Once in a while an artist like Kanye will come out and be an exception but even Kanye had to have the Jay-Z co-sign before he could pop off. Thanks 4 reading.
"A lot of these artists that are so called real hip hop, are pushing
positive music on whak ass beats and sounding extremely annoying in their delivery...I mean after all it is MUSIC. IT's suppose to sound good. If it don't sound good give it up and write a book of poetry fucking clowns."

Hahah yeeeah man, I couldn't agree with you more homie, I could've written a whole blog about that shit. The person spreading the message has 2 be a strong salesman. Yeah for sure on the poetry book or at least ghost write or battle online or something hah. Good looks on reading maynn
"From what I have personally witnessed, fans of lesser known hip hop artists are MUCH more inclined to buy an album...It's not about getting UG heads to buy good albums, it's about getting the masses to STOP buying trash albums. Thats a start, at least
I'm not sure if I understand the first part. If fans of lesser known
acts are much more inclined to buy the album (then fans of better known acts I assume u mean) then why do better known acts sell more? Are the people buying their albums not their fans? As far as getting people to buy fewer trash albums, I def see what u mean but I guess I just feel like the root of the problem is that people can only buy what they know is out, the labels only promote what they think people will buy and they don't neccessarily know exactly what people might buy. Thanks 4 reading homie
"I comment on this website on a regular basis, but I actually BUY the CDs that I praise. In defense of the fans of "real hip hop" artists, the average consumer may not be able to get certain music because certain artists have weak distribution. If it ain't in Best Buy, niggas will download it."

That's good that u buy cds man. I feel you on the distribution but heads can cop the music online. Thanks 4 reading cuzz.
"ZACK, you can't base the sales of REAL HIP HOP artists on just a few people's comments in an audio section fam."
Posted by TheGodJustice
That's what I'm trying to say though man. I don't think its just a few people. This community is huge and I feel like there is potential for a movement that could bring attention to some quality music. Thanks a lot 4 peeping the blog.
"One and a half enthusiastic thumbs up'

P.S. Go to the audio section and peep my artist Tuge's joint "Continue to Grind" produced by Hi-Tek...(shout to Joe Cap for getting that up when I had no internet access)Tuge is this crazy new artist I'm dealing with. You may have heard him on the BMF album on a song called "Star in the Hood" with Bleu Davinci. We're getting his mixtape together and its coming out really well. J. Cardim is on there as well as a few suprises...speaking of which, the "Continue to Grind" remix is in the works, and as cliched as it sounds, we're bringing new york back (there,
I said it) gotta go take this shot of patron, I'm in miami writing blogs haha...

Ok so before I get into anything I want to tell yall exactly who I am and why my blog is called I listen to better music than you. (Other than the obvious reason which of course is the fact that in all likelihood, I listen to better music than you…jk….but not really)
Anyway my name is Zack and I run a little company called Dice Music Group. We do management, production and A&R work. My partner in this company and my number one client as a manager is producer J. Cardim. You may have heard J’s beats on tracks by Red Café, AZ, Talib Kweli, Jae Millz, Saigon and of course my man (and another associate of mine) Sha Stimuli. In the near future, you will be hearing his beats on projects from Juelz Santana, Sheek Louch, your favorite rapper and more, but we’ll save the shameless plugs (and there will be plenty of them) for later. Other clients of Dice Music Group are rappers G-Eyez, Sha Stimuli, Certified Gz and Tuge as well as producers Raf Moses (Termanology, Dre Robinson etc) and Simple Simon. I will get into these other clients later. In fact I might have a little section in each blog where I take the time to talk about one of them. Its funny calling these guys my clients because they are really my friends. (Sounds pretty gay right?...well it’s not u homophobe)
Ok so the blog name, I Listen to Better Music than You. First and foremost yall should know that I’m not up here to tell u that everything you hear on the radio is garbage (if you liked the radio, you wouldn’t be reading blogs) and try to put you on to a million different backpack/underground/experimental rappers. (Cause most of that shit is trash too) The reason I gave my blog this title is because it is a sentiment I think everyone can relate to. I mean really, I’d rather listen to my Ipod than yours, that’s why it’s my Ipod. Not to say that I’m not open-minded, I just think most of my opinions also happen to be facts haha. (That was another name I was kicking around “My Opinions are Facts”) If I didn’t think I have good taste in music then I wouldn’t be out here trying to be a manager and an A&R, ya dig? So please save all the hate for the audio section.
…speaking of the audio section, you guys have no shortage of opinions huh? Now I don’t wanna come off like I’m hating on the audio section commenters (losers) but I get the distinct impression that you guys don’t buy records and that’s where I start to get irritated. One of the things I do for my artists and producers is send out email blasts to website audio sections, so naturally I read what you geeks have to say. I noticed that when an artist who has sold millions of records (T.I., Wayne, Jeezy, Jay-Z etc) posts a song it often gets a lousy rating as well as comments that read something like “Fuck this trash, hip hop sucks etc” (that is of course if u get past all the fucking losers that feel the need to post “first” and links to their lame ass myspace pages) while an artist who sells pretty much no records (anyone 9th wonder has done an entire album with) gets a fantastic rating coupled with comments that read something like “FIRE!!!! I love everything MC Internet Buzz does, this is real hip hop!!” That being the case, when asked about internet commenters, most artists and industry insiders will tell you “those nerds don’t count.” And you don’t. Know why? You don’t buy any fucking albums, ringtones, digital downloads, none of that shit and in doing so (or not doing so) you take away any value your lame ass opinion may have had. The problem is, you geeks go write (type) some shit about your “favorite” rappers song, give it a 5 out of 5 talk with your friends about how you wish the major labels would put out more music like that and then go download his album for free off some torrent site. If Little Brother’s new song has an average rating of 5 out 5 with 38 commenters all saying good shit, then why the fuck don’t they sell any records?? If you do not buy music, your opinion does not count to these labels. Why should they care what you think is hot if you’re not a consumer? For shits and giggles though, let’s say instead of being the fuck ups that you guys are, you actually started to go out and buy this music that u praise so much. The labels may start to see potential for a market in losers who spend their day commenting on music on hip hop websites and downloading porn off limewire. You guys act like the labels are purposely trying to put out bad music. Do you really think they give a fuck about what is and isn’t “real hip hop?” Trust me, if Phonte had 900,000 fans who actually buy music, Soulja Boy or whoever would get pushed the fuck back and Phonte would be on TV. If Saigon sells less than 70,000 in his first week I’ll know for sure that you guys really don’t care about the artists you claim to support. Now I know better than to throw blame around and point out a big problem without offering a solution. We need some kind of campaign that will get all of you no-life-having commenters to come together, get behind a project and show some strength, be it Saigon’s album, Joe Budden’s album (since yall seem to love him so much too) or Sha Stimuli’s album. (Cinderella Man, coming soon bitches, plug plug) The thing is, I think there are a ton of you guys and I think your opinion matters. In fact, I think it matters even more than the opinion of the 12 year old white girl, who the labels care wayyy more about than you guys. So next time you guys talk shit in the audio section, before returning to your non-music-buying lives, imagine a 12 year old white girl beating the shit out of you with a CD, a cell phone or an Itunes Store gift certificate. (Your choice)
I’m pretty long-winded so that’s enough for now but I’ll be back bitches and I have more opinions than a hiphopdx audio section commenter so get ready!

P.S. Shout out to all of the artists and producers who have been sending me their music in response to the J. Cardim interview! And shout out to Legend for the interview itself and that new Sha Stimuli mixtape that should be killing the streets as we speak!!!
P. P. S. shout to Uncle Murda for having us at his session earlier this week, look out for some big Uncle Murda/J. Cardim colabs coming soon!!
