MY FAVORITES

The Reality From out West

Now let's start the show.....

It’s definitely going down tonight. I’m always catching all the shows out here, whether it be House of Blues in Anaheim, some huge event out at the Blockbuster Pavilion, or some grimy spot in L.A. showing my favorite artists, I’m there. Today is special though, cuz for the first time I don’t have to go anywhere.  Tonight in Long Beach at the Vault 350 we got Ghostface, Rakim, and Brother Ali. If you’re in the L.A. area come check it out, tickets are gonna be $35 at the door. You can’t miss the opportunity to see two of the greatest of all time, and another dude working his way to try and get to one of the top spots.

Staying with the whole “live show” theme, this one is for my Vegas peoples…listen up. November 10th Somobe is doing a show at a spot called “The Icehouse Lounge”…be there. I’m gonna be there (probably drunk or off something else…hey, it’s Vegas), it’s gonna be dope, and it’s only $10…you can’t beat $10 bucks for real hip hop.  That’s less than some of you wasted on “Curtis”. That’s $5 bucks more than some of you paid for the bootleg copy of American Gangster (cuz the rest of you just dled it yourself) It’s definitely worth it (the Somobe Concert…and American Gangster). If you haven’t already got “The Great Communication” stop sleeping, it’s one of the best CDs of the year (seriously, I’m not just saying that) Shake if you don’t respond in the comment section saying your gonna be there I’m gonna spam your email with e-fliers for the show.

Keeping with the topic of “shows”, there’s been quite a little show going on here. This whole “censorship, message board VS Blog Section, Meka’s a racists” thing is getting pretty wild. If I picked a side you guys already know what side I’d pick, but I’m not gonna do that…truthfully I don’t have, dude does a pretty good job of defending his self anywayz. However I do want to say a few things on the whole matter

1.       Being from southern Cali, we do things a little different than everyone else. You see, out here being as diverse and as liberal as it is, (even though, sometimes, it tends to try and go old school) were exposed to a lot of shit other’s aren’t. For instance, when you work a job where you have different ethnicities, cultures, and such, yet everyone works somewhat together, (office’s all working towards the same goal, security guards all working in the same area and together, etc. etc.) people tend to say things that don’t fly other places. Sort of like on a football team in the locker room. People say things others might view highly offensive…but nobody cares because you know who these words are coming from. White people make jokes about blacks, black people make jokes about whites, we all make jokes about Mexicans…everybody laughs. We know nobody is really a racist because we know these people. So john makes a joke about black people and sends the e-mail to everybody…so what. I know when I need him to get me some information on a certain client, he’s gonna have it and he won’t leave me stranded. He’s not racist. We talk shit a lot amongst each other. When I first seen some of the shit Meka was saying I was a little thrown off. Not because he was saying it, but because WHERE he was saying it. I was like “Damn, they ain’t gonna be ready for no shit like that,” I lived in Florida before, shit is different out there. Muthafucka’s get tarred and feathered still, so you can’t really joke about race with EVERYBODY, cuz some people are REALLY racist, and are liable to do some shit when you make certain jokes. Little did I know at the time, this is common amongst hip hop bloggers. This is what most of them do, so of course people would be able to deal with it…because they have. However, I guess some people are still surprised when they walk into a Snoop  concert smell weed and hear the word “Bitch” often.

2.       It’s funny the commotion caused over one derogatory comment in a sea of millions. Everybody is perfectly fine when the word “faggot” get’s thrown around as a negative term. Some white rapper had a song entitled “white nigger” I don’t remember it get taken off the site. Nobody complains when Arabs are being called terrorist on this site daily, but when your race gets mentioned you wanna bitch? Dude, if you don’t like hateful/harmful words, speak out against all of them, don’t get all emotional when something that hits close to home comes up. I said “nigga” a million times in a blog the other day and like one person complained over the use of the word, and he only did it because he’s a Brillyance hater. (join the club kiddo) It doesn’t matter that I’m black, if you’re against offensive words, the person saying it means nada. I’m one of the few dudes on this site that said homophobia is whack, if you won’t stick up for something that doesn’t relate to you like I do, hold your chin up and take it like a man when your people get brought up.

3.       How are the message board people gonna go against the blog site people? Have you ever seen that Dr. Pepper commercial where they try to sue to other Dr. Pepper flavor for tasting like normal Dr. Pepper? That’s how stupid this sounds. I fucks with the message boards, and yea, I do believe there are some idiots over there...but it’s still hiphopdx. If you compare the message boards over there, to any message board on any other site, I’m pretty sure the one here is better. Why? Because a lot of the people who make this site overall better, are involved over there too, so they do their part to make that better also. If you compare the blogs here to those on any other site, I KNOW the ones here are better. Why? Cuz of me damn it, that’s why…nah, because of all the people here.  I’ve seen the comments over there though, I know people have BEEN talking shit over there, throwing little subliminals and shit…so what. At the end of the day it’s all HipHopDX and We the Best…WHO? WE THE BEST ©Dj Khalid.

It may seem like I’m taking sides, but please believe if I did I would have had a lot more to say. On another note, I got a lot of shit I want to speak on and questions I want to ask as far as hip hop goes, I’ve just been distracted trying to get some shit together. Like I said in Meka’s blog I’m pushing electronics and stuff of that nature now, so if you’re in southern Cal and you need to get your game on, or you got a PS3 and you hate how it looks like crap on SDTV, holler at the e-mail.  Back to work I go, and if you’re at the show, I’ll see you there. Love, peace, and nappiness.

Untouchables, Punching Bags, and....

This shit is hilarious. So, the other day dude (I can’t remember off the top of my head) complains about “underground” heads dissing mainstream artists and swearing by their favorite underground artists. He says that fans of “underground” music don’t buy albums, so they don’t matter, all they do is whine and bootleg. The funny part is however, when you question the motives of “mainstream” rappers, said rappers fans get super emotional. I don’t get bothered by the responses, I laugh at them. You see, this is the internet, so nobody knows you.  Your given the freedom to say whatever you want without the possibility of repercussions. (To a certain extent, talk about some guns and shit and people can trace you IP and FEDS show up at your house like you bought the T.I. bundle pack) However, even with the aforementioned freedom to say what you want, people still act so cowardly. Before I get into this blog, just let me say…I see you people. I know who two of you are. I know the dude who keeps changing his name to little short phrases/words like WOW and such….I know you’re the same dude that was sending me e-mails talking shit from your job…at REVLON. I’m not gonna question how manly (or not) working at REVLON is…cuz hey, if you get your paper, get your paper, however, I will say you might as well stop being pussy, register with DX, and come here and talk shit. If you want to talk shit, talk shit, I don’t care, you won’t hurt me.  Then the other dude…I’m ashamed of you fam. You ARE registered here, and I know it’s you, because you argue with the same exact style of arguing every time you argue, same words and all. Yet, instead of using your registered name, you either register another, or comment unregistered and talk shit. WHY? Just use your normal name to talk shit, like you have when you ride bra-straps (Yea, I see you) on another bloggers blog. I didn’t have to hack into people’s computers to see shit like this, people are just THAT obvious. If you disagree with me, it’s all good. People like the ‘son disagreed with me. I won’t hack your MySpace, or show up at your job and smack you in front of your supervisor, I promise.

Now, what’s also become very apparent to me since I’ve been here, is some cat’s are “fair game” and some aren’t. You can talk shit about certain people all day and get all the support in the world, yet question others and you receive e-mailed death threats (no lie, I’ve gotten some) Not that I’d really give a shit, as many times as I’ve had firearms pulled on me in real-life, the threat of some random internet pussy sending me on that Amtrak to go visit Mac Dre doesn’t scare me at all. While no argument is ever truly one sided, if you question one of hip hop’s untouchables, you’ll get a lot less in agreement, and some of those who do agree with you’ll make you wish they didn’t. Whether people deserve these titles or not, It is what it is. First let’s look at the untouchables…..

1.       Dr. Dre- Oh my god…he’s such a musical genius…not. While Dr. Dre doesn’t really produce his own shit, doesn’t really write his own rhymes, and said in “Express Yourself” he doesn’t smoke weed, but then named both of all two of his albums “The Chronic”, question him and people will look at you like an idiot. Dr. Dre is single handedly responsible for most of the commercial success of west coast music, and single handedly responsible for commercial failure out west. A co-sign by Dre leads to about 300-500 thousand records sold alone (unless you’re a female), yet being from out west without Dre’s co-sign and you have no chance in hell of making it to MTV.

2.       Nas- Nas to me is by-far one of the illest emcees of all time….Yet he’s still human. As dope as Nas is, he still made Nastradamus.  As prolific as Nas is, he still is responsible for The Bravehearts. People don’t seem to remember this however. While Nas made amazing songs like “I gave you Power” and “Nas is Like”…he was also on “Oochie Walley”. While people have reason to believe Nas will drop dope music, the unquestionable faith some people have in him is somewhat scary. I wonder if that’s the same faith Nature, Cormega, and Ill Will’s moms had in him prior to being left out in the cold?

3.       Scarface-While I haven’t actually got on Scarface,(I don’t really have reason to)it’s obvious he’s one of the south’s few untouchables. Even the most upset person with the current state of hip hop due to the south’s dominance will tell you Scarface is the truth. Lil Troy claims to have papers that prove Scarface is a “snitch” yet nobody really gives a fuck. Face can’t be fucked with

4.       Outkast-Probably the best duo in the history of hip hop. Not in the south, not in the 90’s, in hip hop history. Even the soundtrack to their movie “Idlewild” was looked at as damn near classic. You don’t really hear too much about their movie however…anyways, Outkast definitely is untouchable…probably the only other untouchable from down south besides Face.

5.       Raekwon- Rae dropped “Only Built…” and cemented himself in the history of hip hop. Nobody talks down on Rae…even though he hasn’t really done anything since. He’s dropped a couple forgettable albums, and brought little to the Wu-Tang albums since the early days. On the bright side…”Only Built..2” is coming soon executed produced by Dr. Dre…happy happy, joy joy.

6.       Lil Wayne-How could I forget Weezy. While the Lil Wayne army here at HHDX has pretty much died down, you still have to watch your back when you speak on him negatively. Lil Wayne has dropped hundreds on top of hundreds of mixtape tracks and picked up hundreds of fans for each track. While “The Carter 2” didn’t go 5 times platinum, one has to wonder how many albums he’s gonna sell on his next album.

7.       Biggie-The greatest of all time…smh. The funniest thing about the whole Biggie issue is, as homophobic hip hop fans are, you know, with no homo, and pause, Biggie has said a lot of gay shit. He’s also done some pretty whack songs too. Don’t say that online or in public though, cuz people will swear up and down that song with Lil Kim on “Life After Death” was dope. Yet and still, 1 blog saying he wasn’t the best and actually not near it and I caught death threats…oh well. He’s still not number one.

8.       Tupac- Do I even have to speak on this? Tupac is Lil Wayne x 10, and always will be. Lil Wayne may fade away, but Pac will always be an untouchable. You don’t even have to diss him to end up in a coffin, ask Big’s mom.

9.       Lupe Fiasco-Lupe Fiasco is dope…but he’s still human. Probably the most lyrical cat with a video that get’s played on television…by far. Don’t ask him perform no one else’s lyrics for you though. As complex as some of his songs are (“Dumb it Down”), it amazes me that Lupe couldn’t remember a simple 8 bars from Phife. Other’s don’t give a fuck about how unprofessional he may be, and how lame his excuses are, cuz he’s Lupe. These same people forgot Lupe was rapping about drugs, guns, and hustling prior to blowing up…

10.   Jadakiss-Where is Jadakiss? It doesn’t matter, cuz people still swear by him. Fellow blogger meka dissed Method Man for his Shaq guest slot…Kiss has a Paris Hilton guest slot…nothing will ever be worse than that. Yet and still, a lot of people have Kiss top 5 with only two Solo albums. Kiss definitely has some of the best punchlines, but with two solo albums, and two group albums, how many lines do you have?

Now let’s get into the punching bags.

1.       Jay Z- Hip Hop’s #1 punching bag. While Jay-z is often looked at as the best rapper of all time, he’s obviously the most dissed also. Why? Is it his lips? Maybe, although paying a lot of attention to another man’s appearance does come off quite homo…and of course that’s not hip hop? Could it just be envy? I mean, he is the number one money maker in hip hop, and he does have the hottest chick in the game wearing his chain…jealousy is a weak emotion family. Maybe it’s just the fact he drops tracks like “03’ Bonnie and Clyde”…cuz that shit was whack. Whatever it maybe, Jay’s the first person that came to my mind when I thought of hip hop punching bags

2.       Ja Rule- Blame 50, but Ja Rule is ALWAYS fair game. I feel sorry for Ja. One time you’re on top of the game, the ladies love you, your consistently bringing hits, the next the kids on 106 and Park are calling you whack. It was all good just a week ago.

3.       50 Cent-Oh how things have changed. One minute your ushering rappers out of the game, the next you come in number two in your genre on your release week. It’s obvious that this lion can no longer lead the pack, and he’ll soon be walked off in the jungle to die alone, and hip hop fans are showing they don’t care about him at all. 50 once had G-Unit “soldiers” everywhere, now, I could probably walk through the streets of south side Queens with a “G-Unot” shirt with no problems.

4.       Kanye West-So what Kanye consistently brings quality albums…he said we’re not supposed to diss gay people…so he must be gay. Actually the obvious reason Kanye is a punching bag is his temper tantrums, especially the one where he walked up on the stage when someone else won the award. No matter how good he may be, I can always diss Mr. West freely and know people will back me up (whether they’re backing me up for good reason, or just because they’re emotional when it comes to Kanye)

5.       Lil Wayne-How could I forget…Lil Wayne. For every little Wayne Stan, there’s a Lil Wayne hater. Lil Wayne will forever be fair game due to the fact he kissed another man in the mouth. Not only did he kiss another man…he kissed another man a lot of females wouldn’t kiss in the mouth. (well, Kimora would) The funny thing about the Lil Wayne kissing another man situation is a lot of the people that question him for that, praise another man who said a chick looked so good he’d suck her dad’s dick, AND said he’d fuck Rupaul before fucking a chick from Xscape.  Lil Wayne has gotten lazy on several tracks, but kissing Baby is gonna keep him fair game.

6.       Anyone Dipset related- I was gonna list Jim Jones, but I didn’t feel like also listing Cam, Juelz…and basically anyone else dip Set related. When you can be made irrelevant by someone who hasn’t dropped an album and probably never will (Tru Life), you gain lifetime punching bag status.  I mean…Tru Life made Cam a punching bag...literally.

7.       2pac- 2pac is Lil Wayne x 10, and always will be. 2pac will always be fair game. Why? Could it be because he has thug life tatted on his chests, yet he started as a backup dancer for digital underground? Could it be because he talked about growing up in the streets, yet he went to a school for the arts? Who knows…I mean, Mobb Deep gets away with it. 2pac will always be fair game for two reasons, one, songs like “What’s Your Phone Number”, two, biggie fans.

People to insignificant to be listed as punching bags:Game, Fat Joe, Souljah Boy, D4L, Dem Franchise Boys, Mase,Mobb Deep

Nas' "Nigga"....nigga please

So, Nas is naming his album “Nigga”? I heard that nigga was gonna do that for “Hip Hop Is Dead”, but then backed out. Rumors said Def Jam wouldn’t let him release an album entitled “Nigga”, but then that nigga LA Reid said Def Jam backs all their artists in whatever they want to do. Last week, when Ms. Bassa spoke on the issue, a bunch of niggas was like “We gonna say nigga whenever we want to say nigga, and if that nigga wanna name his album “Nigga”, it’s all good, my nigga,” Now, I’ve already stated my opinion on the word nigga…it’s a word. I don’t care too much about it either way. Why I’d prefer not to hear white people say the word (due to history), I do say it, yet, to avoid them feeling like it’s the cool hip thing to say, I don’t say it around them. So the word doesn’t bother me, however, Nas’ decision does.

So, I’m not really feeling my nigga Nas naming his album “Nigga”. I’m not really bothered for ALL the same reasons as Ms. Bassa. Truthfully, them niggas Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton can’t tell a nigga nothing.  If I ever seen that nigga Al Sharpton I’d say “Nigga, calm yo ass down and do something with your hair,” I definitely don’t care for Bill O’ Reilly or any of those bunk ass Fox news people gotta say, cuz all they do is hate on niggas. My problem is with that nigga Nas. See, this nigga named his last album “Hip Hop is Dead”, and we got all this talk. Is Hip Hop Dead? Cynics and whiny ass rap fans started chanting “Hip Hop Is Dead! Hip Hop Is Dead!”However none of that talk had to do with the album, niggas was just repeating the title. Really, how many of ya’ll niggas have actually listened to “Hip Hop is Dead” as of late? “Hip Hop is Dead” wasn’t in my top 5 albums of the year, shit, it was barely one of my top 5 favorite Nas albums…that nigga was slipping. It was a good album, but that nigga just didn’t bring anything remarkably amazing to go along with the title. I mean, my nigga, if hip hop is dead…don’t you have to bring some genre changing shit? That’s the thing, I just think this nigga is making up titles to draw attention but the albums don’t keep a nigga hooked. So now this nigga named his album “Nigga”, but keep it real my niggas, you know that shit ain’t gonna do nothing for the word nigga. The album will probably have a skit revolving around the word nigga, but besides that, this nigga will just be doing some decent/good music. So why in the hell name the album nigga my nigga? Stop acting like you gonna change some shit.

The thing is, if that nigga Jay-Z did this shit, niggas would be talking shit about his lips. Let this nigga Nas do it, niggas swear this nigga is some type of super genius or some shit that’s gonna change the world through the word nigga. Fa real my nigga, niggas have been calling their peoples “my nigga” for years, he can’t make the word anymore positive then niggas already “believe” it is. Shit ain’t gonna change. When the album “Nigga” drops (if it does), it’s gonna see the same results as “Hip Hop is Dead”, nobody is gonna talk about the album. Niggas is just gonna be saying the word nigga a lot more. So it will sort of be like this blog.

The Dynamic Du-no Pt. 2

So let me go ahead and finish this off before I get into anything else. There’s a lot of real shit being said on both sides of the coin, if you missed part 1 of the blog, go back here and check the blog and the comment section, cuz there’s some people who believe a lot (not all) of what Cosby is saying and they got real shit to say too. Now let’s go back to the show…..

“Our kid got shot by a stray bullet, we did everything right…and he got shot. If we, blacks and Hispanics, don’t step up, we’ll all be afraid to go outside.”
Mother of kid shot to death on the back of a Chicago public bus on “The Oprah Winfrey Show”

This goes back to something I said before. The people who need to be talked to…don’t give a fuck about an Oprah Winfrey or a Bill Cosby. The parents of the kid who shot these people’s child weren’t watching Oprah.  That’s what really makes me upset about the whole situation, he goes and does these speeches at college’s and on Oprah, but the thing is, the people he’s speaking to, look down on us (I feel I’m very much a part of the communities he’s talking shit about.) right along with him. So you got all these muthafuckas with money like “Oh my god, it’s so horrible, they DO need to get there stuff together, they are messing up,” What the hell is this gonna help? Then you got these right wing dick faces going “Oh, see, even Bill Cosby agrees, they can’t say he’s racists. Now you have an established black man, who came from their community saying the same thing I’ve been saying for years”. They use Bill Cosby words to push their racists’ bullshit which isn’t based on the situation at all, but based completely on race. (Which was seen when ole’ boy started ranting about when that Coon shot the school up) Bill Cosby dos this shit, and then get’s turned into a pawn…for what? What are these rants gonna change? Absolutely nothing.  If he wants to talk to muthafuckas, put together a celebration at the park, then, when everybody is eating, and chilling and shit, get on the stage and say “Hey, I’m Bill Cosby, remember me? You used to watch my show. Guess what? It’s not fake, it’s real, you can have a black family where the mother and father are doctors, we can do this, but first, we have to work on some things,” It’s still not gonna shake up the world, but at least then his “message” will get to who it’s supposed to get to. After that, he can put together some programs where those same people that heard him speak can come, and talk about problems they have parenting and have some people with some solutions attempt to help. At these same programs the parents can get to know one another, so when they find out, their son got into it with Ramon, they can say, “Fuck that, I got Ramon’s mom’s number right here, I’m gonna call her, and were gonna work this out,” They can set up some programs that will get people into drug rehab. Then we’d have somebody WE recognize talking directly to us (instead of about us) about something that’s about something. But wait, I forgot, this is a capitalist economy; Bill Cosby didn’t make a bunch of money so he can put it back into the hood. He made it so he can put some in the hood, then sit up on top of the rest and talk shit about the hood to other people sitting on their stacks of money. So I guess that’s an idiotic idea.

So after a while of Bill Cosby saying the same shit, they fielded some questions from the audience. There were a couple of funny ones. So this teacher talks about how she tries to reach out to the parent of a child who’s struggling, yet she gets no response. Bill Cosby says in an asshole voice “You know what you do, after the final bell rings, follow the kid. Normally, following a kid will lead to some adult or authority figure. When you see what house the kid walks into, knock on that door” Somebody (I don’t really remember right now, either Cosby, Oprah, or Cosby’s co-author Poussant) said that they knew of a teacher that set up conferences with all the parents of all their students, and their kids normally did better. Well, that’d be just lovely, only problem is, teachers don’t make no damn money. They don’t get paid for that shit. It’s not in the teacher’s job specifications to teach the kid and the parent. But Brillyance, you want the great honorable Dr. Cosby to do all this stuff for the hood, why do you not expect more from teachers, you do want shit to get better right? Of course I do, and I’d love it if teachers talked to all parents, but the thing is, it wasn’t the teachers that got up on that podium and started calling the kids dummies, and stupid, and the parents idiots. If Cosby didn’t do that, I wouldn’t say shit about him. If Cosby didn’t do that, I’d being saying teachers should get paid more, and there should be more programs that get teachers to interact with parents, however, I definitely wouldn’t expect them to have to do it with the bullshit salaries their getting paid now. (At least in the hood, cuz I know private school teachers make cake like Cherokee’s momma)

So, after the question by the teacher, and then questions from a few other people, a white lady steps up to say something. First I was wondering what the hell she had to say, then I was wondering why Oprah let her normal audience members even speak on this episode. She starts off by saying “I want to talk about the N Word” (I really think that’s how she started it off too) So she goes on blaming Movies and music, saying that her kids know of the word because of movies, music and their friends. (That’s a god damn lie, you mean to tell me, SOME white people have been calling black people stupid niggers since slavery, yet your kids never heard the word nigga till they saw some movies and heard some music? STFU) All of a sudden, Oprah turned into Shameeka and was like “and your question is?” with a “bitch please” type of voice.

“I just don’t know what to do, how do I stop my kid’s from using that word”
-Random white lady (whose name Oprah just happened to know, so this was all set up, they planned to have a white person bring this up) on “the Oprah Winfrey Show”

At this point Mr. Poussant says “Tell your kids that the word has been used to hurt and demean black people for years, and that the word is wrong” After talking to Becky in the “the cow says MOooOO” voice, Poussant flips and says “Gangster rappers say they’re making the word positive…but you can’t. The same people saying they’re making the word positive are killing people at night and using the word” to applause then commercial……

Are you that fucking stupid? I’m sorry. I’ve realized I’m using a lot of profanity in something that’s supposed to be serious, but the thing is, last time when I wrote part one of the blog, I was still a little thrown off by the BET Hip Hop Awards…however that’s worn off and as I look back at the notes I took, I can’t believe this shit. It’s hard to believe that some people are that idiotic and believe that “gangster rap” is actually “gangsters making rap music”. Had this been Bill O’ Reily or some shit, I’d simply write it off as him being blind due to his racism, but I expected these uppity ass niggas (oops) to know better.

So after they come back from commercial, they have this dude from DC. As a kid, his mom was killed by her boyfriend. One day, her boyfriend was dragging her in the street, then, he went and loaded his gun. He shot the kids mom twice in the face, then he came in the house and shot the kid’s brother. As he went to the kid, he put the gun to his head. The kid begged him not to shoot him, said he’d do anything, and then he prayed to god. The boyfriend told the kid he can go.  Before I go on to what the kid and Cosby and his sister talked about, why did this happen? Who was the kid’s mom, what did she do? Who was her boyfriend? We don’t know, I guess it doesn’t matter, it has nothing to do with proving their point (maybe something to do with disproving it…but who knows?) This may, William (the kid’s name) will be the first in his family to graduate from college.

Cosby: Since you lived “down there” with the drugs and all that, what do you feel?
William: It’s bad
Cosby to Williams sister: Do the people make it sound Ok? All the people “down there”?
Williams sister: yea, they ALL do…I was selling drugs, I had a baby at 16…

WOW, I didn’t know DC was like that. See, in the hood I hung out in, they’d tell kids who did good in school to stay away when they were gonna do bad shit. While you may be occasionally “peer” pressured to drink or smoke, it’s never EVERYONE who influences you to do shit some view as bad. The way the girl emphasized ALL sort of made it seem like a set up. The people who are strongly pushed to do bad shit by everybody, are normally the ones who people know can’t do anything else. Gang members normally tell the dummy “You better be down for the hood!”, however, it’s extremely rare they ask the kid with good grades “Are you gonna put in work for the set nigga?” So I really don’t believe the shit she was saying.  The fact William seemed hesitant to talk about the hood negatively, then they switched to talking to his sister made it seem even more set up.

“Low expectations from teachers can cause a child to fail, low expectations from parents can crush them,”
Poussant on “The Oprah Winfrey Show”

“You don’t have to knock on doors to go in kids room, cuz in prison they don’t do that. They don’t pay rent in prison, kids don’t pay rent… When you go in the room, look under the bed, kids are stupid enough, they always hide stuff there”
Bill Cosby on “the Oprah Winfrey Show”

These statements combined pretty much explain the how show. Contradictions, low expectations, and plain fucked up thinking. Poussant speaks on how low expectations can fuck with kids, then, later on, Cosby calls kids stupid. When he does it, everyone laughs. Cosby also says that treatment in the home should be like treatment in prison. While I understand this is simply a metaphor, and doesn’t mean to completely treat kids like their in prison, that’s definitely a metaphor that should have never been made. As much as Cosby has been calling kids stupid, and dummies and such, some of the things he says make me question his intelligence. I could question “Dr.” Cosby’s intelligence, flip his words around, diss his personal life, all day, but it doesn’t matter.  I feel I don’t have to, I feel it’s obvious that

A.      If he really cared about the people “down there” he’d go about things a different way

B.      What he’s doing isn’t helping, and will do no positive. In fact, it’s only doing negative by adding ammunition to the likes of …just about everybody on FOX news.

What about Oprah? Well, let’s look at the commercials during her show?

1.       On the next episode we got…some white people with money problems

2.       On another next episode (how do you have 2 next episodes?)we got…they were the other woman…what life felt like when these women found out their husband was cheating…and…the women who sued her husband’s mistress…and the results

3.       The November issue of O magazine: Turn back the clock on aging (note: black don’t crack)

4.       Dove commercial with white girl, to find out more go to….campaignforrealbeauty.com

5.       Some cooning ass Kaiser commercial

…ok, so what I attempted to flip commercials 3 and 4 to make them seem like they were made specifically for white people… I just took what they gave me. (And besides…I can’t be serious all the time) I didn’t really have to, we all know Oprah cares about American black people less than Bush (If you got paper, Bush fucks with you. If you had paper and was looking to make more and save money while doing it, the Bush administration was great no matter what color you were)If your name isn’t Umdum Diah and you don’t have flies buzzing around your head….Oprah don’t give a fuck. According to her, you care more about PlayStation than education. Oh well…fuck them all, that’s what I say.

The dynamic du-no Pt. 1

Let me let ya’ll in on a little secret about me, I hate old people. Due to the fact they can’t do anything else, old people tend to talk a lot. I have no problem keeping up conversations, however, when old people tend to find themselves talking about shit they know nothing about. You’d figure after 70+ years your old ass could find something to talk about other than hip hop, cuz you know you don’t know shit about it. Anywayz, yesterday when reading Ms. Bassa’s blog, I noticed she knew that two people I’d like to smack the shit out of found themselves in the same place two days ago. Had I been in Chicago I could have pulled one of those big TI (and that goes for either TI or T.I.’s) pieces out of the bag and put both of them out of their misery. I would have read through her comments to see if anybody mentioned it, but I didn’t feel like going through 40+ comments saying “White girl we gonna say nigga all we want…nigga” (I got something to say about that too. I’ll put that up later), so I figured I’d do my own blog about it (like I was going to, but I was so confused after liking the BET Hip Hop Awards). I took some notes on what I seen on that show (nigga u ain’t in school, yea, I know), and now allow me to vent.

So Bill has Cosby done a lot of bullshit speeches, about…niggas. That’s basically what he would like to say. The almighty Dr. Cosby is calling out the poor black people for lack of parenting. The Poor blacks aren’t parenting, that’s why their kids are fucked up. Does this explain why his daughter Erinn was doped up? No, it doesn’t, but oh well…I guess the “non-poor” black people fuck up too. At least that’s what Autumn Jackson thinks. Oh well, on with the show.

“it’s a domino effect, I sell you drugs women, you use them, you sell yourself for money to get more drugs, you get AIDS, then, your child, has AIDS also”
-Bill Cosby On Oprah

He didn’t go into how this domino effect effects parenting, but I guess that’s obvious. He forgot a couple of steps that come before he sells the women drugs. If by drugs, we mean shit other than weed…that shit doesn’t grow here. We can keep terrorists out now (allegedly) and Cuban cigars, but we can’t keep drugs and illegal immigrants out…WTF? I don’t know. I mean, why can’t we keep drugs and illegal immigrants out, why those two things? Could it be because the rich people of America are somehow profiting off both of those? Bingo. While people can choose to just leave drugs alone…just say no kids, it’s oh so easy, let me go on first, I’ll come back to that.

“The woman was asked, “Why’d you play this role” she said “You want me playing this role, or in the alley having sex for drugs” There are other jobs out there, you (Oprah) obviously have found one. (Crowd applause)

While I have gotten on Morgan Freeman for playing the background to white people frequently (always damn near) it’s because we know he can act, we know he’s talented. Others…not so much. You don’t see me getting on Brian Hooks for playing the roles he plays…that’s because I know he’s not on the short list of people who could play Huey P in the Spike Lee directed flick. (What’s taking Spike so long…WE NEED YOU)  Of course, there ARE other jobs then acting and prostitution, there just hard as hell to get. While my typing speed of 70 WPM and my high test scores with Word and Excel have struggled to get me a decent job, I can imagine what it’s like for someone who can’t type, and don’t know shit about Word and Excel. So, for someone fresh out of high school with no office experience, no one over them telling them go to college, and no office skills, Wal-mart seems like the spot. Wal-mart doesn’t pay bills in any neighborhood other than one near a Martin Luther King Blvd. That shit’s not that appealing or safe. So, why didn’t anybody tell this kid about college? Where are the parents? I don’t know, maybe, just maybe, their parents were some of the people who got strung out on crack in the 80’s & 90’s, and are now dead, in jail, or just fucked up in the head. Oh…but Dr. Cosby says leave the drugs alone…it’s too fucking late for them. See, I don’t disagree with Cosby 100%, the problem with his logic is, he has to realize, for some…for a lot…it’s too late. You can’t tell the parents of the kids under me, that they need to get their shit together…people are lost. It’s too late. If you want to help, you have to find a way to reach out to the kids, EARLY. You have to get somebody to speak to these kids EARLY and stay on them as they grow in the schools, you can’t sit up on some stage at some college and talk shit about their parents. I got peoples who are 3 generations deep into gang banging, drug selling, and other ignorant shit, please believe their parents don’t give a fuck about what Bill Cosby has to say. To affect people coming up in situations like this, you have to skip past the parents and put the knowledge in the hands of the kids at an early age, cuz if I know people fucked up like this in a city like Long Beach (which has it’s bad parts, but is nowhere near a city like Los Angeles, or Chicago), it’s most likely a lot worse in other areas.

What happened to us since Brown VS the Board of Education?
“People fell into decadence because of the media and gangster rap”
Mr. Poussant Co-author of Bill Cosby’s new book “Come on people, Victims to Victors”

It’s funny, people tell us that we need to stop blaming white people for our problems, then, they blame gangster rap and the media. First of all, gangster rap exists because gangsters exist. Had it not been for people in the hood of Compton, Eazy and Dre never would have created NWA. Blaming gangster rap for the problems of the hood is THE worst excuse EVER! While I’m not one to blame white people for the problems of the hood, I will put partial blame on certain people who just happen to be white. So, while I won’t put blame on Eminem, Amanda Bassa, or Peyton Manning, I will put some blame on Reagan, Lyndon Johnson, and Bush Vol. 1. Disagree if you like, but it wasn’t Ice-T that had people giving cocaine to Rick Ross an amazingly low prices! Therefore, the blaming of gangster rap is a cop out, and especially weak for people who are saying don’t blame the man. One of many contradictions I noticed on this show.

“70% of black kids are born to single mothers. Many young males don’t have fathers, so they don’t know how to be fathers”

That’s an alarming stat right there…if you believe stats. See, the problem with this statistic is, how they hell did they find it. I was raised in 3 different households, one with my mother, one with my sister, and one with my dad and his girlfriend…when did they take this stat for me? Another problem with this stat is that single mother households aren’t only a black problem…it’s a poor people problem. What percentage of the black population are considered to be low-income or lower middle class income as opposed to whites? I’m pretty sure those stats are damn near aligned with the percentage of single mother households. That goes for every race. You can manipulate stats all day if you want. They also said there is a 50% drop out rate for blacks in some urban cities. In some cities, really? Really, I’m sure I can find a 50% percent dropout rate for whites in some rural cities…does that mean whites aren’t graduating from high school. These are POOR people problems. Poor people of all races are dropping out of high school.

I’m only half way through this shit, so I’m gonna cut it here, and drop something else later. I’ll come back to this next Monday. I got a WHOLE lot more to say about the dynamic Du-no.

I have a confession to make

I guess I have to hold off on coming with that new T-shirt design idea I had. Ladies and gentlemen…I have a confession to make. I watched BET…wait, wait, I’m not done. I liked it! Yes…I said, no, I’m not talking about “American Gangster”…I’m talking about the BET Hip Hop Awards. Normally, I don’t fuck with award shows. I don’t care if it’s the Grammy’s, Emmy’s, Oscars, VMA’s, fuck all that shit. Any award shows, definitely on BET, doesn’t get watched by me. However, Phonte was gonna be in the cipher. I had to see that, with the whole “Little Brother’s too intelligent” thing. Ras Kass was gonna be in the cipher, with the whole “Ras Kass is Free” thing (not from jail…he’s been free from there, free from his label), I had to check that and support the west. So…for the first time ever, I watched BET three hours straight. (The Awards for 2 hours, then American Gangster).

Balance. Back when the east ran shit, nobody was asking for balance. New York emcees, New Yorkers, and people who wish they were from New York but weren’t, were happy, cuz “Son got mad play on the radio and TV” and “Dat Boy from down dere” wasn’t heard from. Nobody cared that Atlanta wasn’t being heard from. Nobody cared that New Orleans wasn’t being represented. However, once the west started to dominate, and then into when the south took over hip hop, backpackers started bitching…”it’s unbalanced…all we hear on radio and TV is them, that’s not right…they don’t show us no love” There you go, you got what you wanted. The BET Hip Hop awards brought balance. Common took the lyricist of the year award, and got a tie on the album of the year with T.I. (I don’t know if T.I. should have got that…but shit, Common still won too) Lil Wayne won MVP (shit, he dropped a million freestyles and songs that got respected by most) You had performances by Kanye and Common, then you had performances from Boosie, Wayne, Souljah Boy. Even Busta Rhymes got to perform (even though, I don’t know what the fuck for…but oh well). The dance of the year award wasn’t televised. (Cuz honestly, if it’s not on some B-Boy shit…who gives a fuck)The ciphers were dope (Wyclef tried to bring it. Stat really brought it. Cassidy kicked some old shit…how can YOU be slacking…what’s wrong, couldn’t write no new punch lines in jail or while you were chilling in the hospital?) Outkast and UGK won for best collabo, Kanye won for best Video (it didn’t matter that the song wasn’t that dope, the video was tight and original) and best performer (I’ve never seen him) Things went how they should have went. Was there Cooning going on? Of course there was, but it was balanced, and if you complained about the lack of balance like I did, you can’t knock that.
